I have used Turbo Tax for several years, but find that my wife and are entitled to the standard deduction and that there is no need to itemize. Does Turbo Tax provide assistance in filing a standard deduction tax return?
I was surprised by the add on fees at the conclusion of the filing process. Some advance warning of this should be made available.
What's great about it: Easy to work with
What's not so great: Add on costs at the filing of the taxes
I'm a first time user who retired last year and didn't feel I needed an accountant due to less deductions. I'm sure I could have used your service even when I had more deductions. Your service was very user friendly and I would highly recommend it.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I love using Turbo Tax. It walks me through the entire process, and lets me know what my return will be, if I have one coming. I will really enjoy it next year, as I have started a small consulting firm.
There are various locations for a charity like Good Will and Salvation Army, etc. It would be much easier to input correct address if it was requested as the donation was entered, otherwise one could have the wrong address for that particular date.
I have used TurboTax since the first public versions were available for the early home PCs. As it has aged and matured, the target audience has been assumed dumber and dumber such that using it is getting somewhat tedious as one wades through basic instructions. That said, it is very thorough for the user; nothing gets missed. Disappointed that even at this date (Mar 27) I still receive a warning that Sch D needs revisited because forms are not complete. Suspect there is a bug in the system as the form seems complete to me.
What's great about it: Familiar format after using since its inception
What's not so great: Getting to 'dumb' as the audience has broadened
I like that I can do my taxes quickly and accurately step by step. It was annoying when I came back to file after a couple of weeks and needed a software update. The update caused errors that could only be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the program.
What's great about it: walked through step-by-step
