Easy Tax Return

Easily entered all retirement income. Charitable donations seemed easier without entering address (some just are internet donations). Entering capital gains/losses was easy as was the automatic download from the brokerage company.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions on entering all my information and also easy to switch to forms mode and look over results
What's not so great: Cost of State e-file
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
I have been using TurboTax since the 1990s and continue to find it easy to use. Paying taxes may not be enjoyable, but preparing them with TurboTax is. Thank you for a good product that is affordable.
What's great about it: Step by step or make my own entry decisions. Automatic entry of previous year's info. Free e file for New york.
TurboTax is indispensable considering how complex and convoluted the tax system is. However, it does not handle AMT very well as it asks questions that I cannot answer (e.g., how to adjust capital gains/losses - no reference is of any help either). All instructions for filling out AMT form say "adjust", but never HOW?! TurboTax should be improved when it comes to AMT.
Overall satisfied. About 6 years ago I needed a K-1 form, but TurboTax assumes I need it every year and catches it as an error I need to fix annually. I end up deleting the form to override this. Some other information gets transferred from last year incorrectly, and I need to correct it each time. And it assumes scholarships on the 1098-T are Pell Grants when it goes to the state form, which they aren't.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to follow
What's not so great: Minor only: Insists on filling out forms not needed; makes erroneous transfers from last year
