My profession depends on clear writing, so I really appreciate TurboTax's simple, clear style.
What's great about it: conversational style of comments. clear, direct verbiage
What's not so great: medical deductions info still a little confusing when you have a home business

TTax's instructions for sched D used TT's boxes A, B, C which initially conflicted with the IRS Form 8949's boxes A, B, C plus D, E, F. I was reading the form and its instructions to attempt to understand (ha ha ha) something more about the process and to list the sales of some antique militaria collectibles.
I finally figured it out but would suggest different labels for your three categories: 1, 2, 3 or I, II, III.
There are a couple of instances, every year, where I wonder if I should record data in one place, but the instructions aren't clear and there may be a note saying it will come up later. Then, it turns up later. Example auto ad valorem taxes are deductible but, in GA, are considered property taxes.
Claiming sales taxes vs state income taxes: the sales tax figure is always too low until I find the window to insert my state plus county tax rate. (I can only conclude the rate TTax uses is the state only, no local taxes included.) Then the dollar total almost double vs what TTax initially told me my deduction could be. This rate could be much earlier in the process, perhaps in the personal info area - or TTax could use my address and zip to automatically insert the correct state + local rate.

Simple & Easy

Have been using TurboTax for 16 years. It is simple and easy to use, makes filing taxes almost fun. The support is very good. I had issues, and the representatives were super helpful.
What's great about it: Makes filing takes fun.
What's not so great: taxes are too high.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Don't like turbo tax anymore. It has become too controlling and cumbersome to move around in. Only helpful if you have no idea what you are doing or have very complicated returns. You need an option to just roll data forward and then edit the forms you need directly. I'm using paper forms next year.
What's great about it: convenient to roll data forward, saves time reentering data, used to be helpful when I had business data
What's not so great: difficult to move around in now (didn't use to be - what happened?), cumbersome

Everything worked smoothly. The one glitch for me, and it was frustrating, was the system's way of processing 1099-R IRA funds that I had rolled over to another IRA. It took some investigation to figure out that I needed to view the information entered on the 1040 form to confirm that these funds would not be counted as income.

I have been using TurboTax for several years and find it very easy to use. I always use the Walk Me Through It option and enter the info myself. The instructions are very detailed and there is always a link for explanation of the particular item. Also like the review process and the audit protection option.

USED TURBO TAX FOR YEARS

Federal tax forms are very complicated. (And I am a retired CPA and it challenges me!) A program such as Turbo Tax are needed--too many people go to an accountant when Turbo Tax is what they need at a lower price.
BUT, Turbo Tax can explain some things in an initial "high point" summary. It would be nice to show "Tax Bracket" ranges. Show exemption amounts for normal, blind, etc. Show how high the threshold is for "Medical Expense" and "Self Employed Decuctions" A brief opening summary could help people feel more comfortable going thru the program.
What's great about it: PARTICULARLY LIKE THE "CARRYOVER OF PRIOR YEAR INFORMATION"
What's not so great: You should modify the "Sales Tax" deduction process. In several states taxes on autos are deductible. Make it friendly

Turbo Tax is very easy to use with step-by-step instructions or the option to complete the forms on your own. The reviews of both the Federal and State returns prior to filing is welcomed. I also like the national average comparisons and audit alerts provided.
What's great about it: Easy to use, almost paint by numbers
What's not so great: Some of the worksheets are difficult to use or limited instructions
