After seven years I am finally figuring out how to navigate through TurboTax since the questions sequence you use does not line up with the 1040 tax form.
I am very pleased with the way you handle all calculations and fill out many forms for me that I didn't even know about.
Doing taxes by myself with Turbo Tax is simple, easy and fast. Plus you don't have to wait for an appointment to do your taxes. Have been using Turbo Tax for years would not do it any other way.
All in all, the best tax preparation software out there. I usually buy it at Costco and get the Deluxe, which handles my Schedule C income and deductions perfectly. I don't have Investments/rental properties, etc., so this is really all I need and perhaps a bit more. Never had any problems and have used TurboTax for over 10 years. The only hiccup I had was when I hadn't saved the previous year as a pdf and the new program wouldn't read the old data. I had to re-install the old program first, then open it and then save as pdf. Maybe a stronger "Did you SAVE your file?" before final exit.
What's great about it: Everything is clear and concise. Well laid out/easy as pie!
What's not so great: It doesn't like multiple/'other' income sources without W-2.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I have used Turbo-Tax for years and found it a great way to do my taxes---which I used to do by hand. For years, I got the discs because by internet connection was too slow. But after an upgrade i started getting the program online. But the last two years, the online version refused to let us file electronically so we had to print out the return and mail it in. So this year I bought the disc version and it worked fine with one exception: the instructions for mounting. They say to move the icon to your apps folder---but they don't say which icon. After a half hour futzing around with the disc icon, I tried the icon in the instructions and it worked. I now no better but I hope they will make the instructions clearer to spare others the problem.
What's great about it: Clear, easy to follow instructions.
What's not so great: The instructions for mounting are obtuse.
