Have been using for almost 15 years, and it gets better each year. Al three of my children started using, and all of us appreciate the ease of use. Was able to download complex stock trade transactions directly from Scottrade and W-2's in easy steps. Even my wife commented about how much less time I spent this year on taxes.
What's great about it: Continues to be easy to use
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easiest way to do taxes

I would and have recommended Turbo Tax to any one and everyone should the subject of taxes come up. I'm 62 and I have always done my own taxes, however, before Turbo Tax it could take as much as two weeks to complete a complicated return. This is because of tax law research and trying to understand new law changes and how they applied to my family.
What's great about it: They ask all of the appropriate questions and leave nothing uncovered. To do my taxes, no tax law research was needed.

Downloadable TurboTax Deluxe is Fantastic!

Because we had a somewhat more complicated than usual tax situation in 2013, we had to switch to the downloadable version of TurboTax Deluxe, instead of the online version we have used for years. Although it was $10 more than the online version, it was WELL WORTH the additional expense because of the availability of IRS Forms, Worksheets and supporting/ancillary documents. Not only are the provided, they are .PDFs that one may enter one's information, but all supporting/ancillary worksheets are automatically queued up and the calculations are all done instantaneously. Awesome!
What's great about it: Complete library of IRS forms, worksheets and supporting docs.
What's not so great: Does not include IRS Publications

Easy way to File Taxes

A quick, easy way to file your taxes with confidence. Be sure to have all your current information at hand and just click and type everything into the proper spot. From year to year, all your previous information is there. Couldn't be any easier!

Excellent Product

Turbo Tax is a very user friendly program. The prompts for information makes it very easy to walk through each section and enter information as requested. The help screens were great for guiding me through the two areas I had questions about when filling in the numbers. This program asks you for the same information an accountant would ask for.
What's great about it: Easy to use, great help screens
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

many small annoyances contribute to making Turbo Tax a less than savory experience. For example, the program doesnt tell you up front how much e-filing will cost. So you check e-file and then go through the process. At the last moment the program tells you that you need to pay $XX for e-filing. Then, if you decide it's not worth your while, you need to search for 10 minutes to go back and find that particular diagogue and check off "filing by mail" for that particular state.
THe "page up" and "page down" buttons do not work so you are always using your mouse to scroll down. There are myriad similare annoyances.

It is Fun! Well, Not Really, But Almost

I have been using TurboTax for about 10 years. The best thing about TT is that I can react to the program. It asks questions and I answer them. This makes it feel like so much less work. Second, TT knows the tax law. When I did my taxes without TurboTax, I had to spend hours of my time learning about what the heck I was supposed to do. I have other things to do; why become a tax expert each year just to file my taxes? I don't have to do that with TurboTax. I've owned my own side businesses for awhile. For a few of the years, when I had fairly complex business reporting, I used TurboTax to get my return ready and then, before filing, I took it to a business CPA to review them. He never found an error. Finally, I stopped using him and just went with TT.
What's great about it: Interactivity makes the experience easier
What's not so great: Seriously, who likes doing their taxes?
