Loved It, but Annoying Too

Overall I'm glad I used TurboTax and will definitely use it again. I paid an accountant in the past and after TurboTax I was surprised to see how much the accountant failed to reveal that I could have been claiming in deductions (I had asked him about specifics)!
It didn't take long to use TurboTax. When I compare it to the two trips I had to make driving to the accountant's office, the time spent doing it myself verses hiring someone else probably evens out. It will go even quicker next year, now that I've used TurboTax once and have the hang of it, and now that most of the information can be downloaded from this year's return onto next year's. Obviously the price is better than paying an accountant.
I only have two complaints. I could do without all the pep-talks, introductory speeches and congratulating me for entering a couple fields of data. They are big time-wasters which really started to annoy me. They should have a TurboTax for people who are terrified of taxes and need reassurance and one for people who just need the software and want to get finished. I also found the fact that it was broken into such minute steps rather annoying. "Do you have a child?" Yes. "Next page. Did she live with you all year?" Yes. "Next page". Oh my goodness. Just say, "If you had a child who lived with you all year click here. If part of the year click here. If no child click here." This caused confusion at times because the option I needed wasn't on the page it logically seemed it should be on. I would keep looking all over the screen for it only to discover TurboTax had broken the options into two screens with tons of blank space on each screen. It was also irritating when they made me search my last year's tax return for box 39a only to find out if I was born before 1945 and if I was blind. I'm pretty sure I don't need to consult last year's tax return to know that info. It was just a little too simplified. I would have preferred TurboTax for the Semi-Intelligent instead of TurboTax for the Brain Dead and Those with Very Low Self-Esteem Who Need Constant Praise and Confirmation. Otherwise, really good program, and I will use it again.
What's great about it: Very easy to use
What's not so great: Hand-holding was over-the-top to the point of being a time-waster, irritating, and even confusing at times.

Does a really good job of what it is designed for. Just be sure that you purchase the version that addresses your specific needs ( I bought the "Federal & State returns plus Federal E-File, not realizing that I should have purchased a different and more expensive version if I wanted to E-File the State taxes as well). This was not a major inconvenience but could have been if there were other criteria that I might have missed as well (i.e. no state return included).
What's great about it: makes a tedious job much easier

What's not so great: No need for print preview before printing a form. Just adds more steps and time.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2013 Taxes

A bit harder to use than last years program. Did not provide as much information as I wanted withoud having to go to a different site.
did taxes, but still not that warm and fuzzy feeling.
What's not so great: Not as easy as last years forms.

Paying Uncle Made Easy

We have used this program from near its beginning. Turbo Tax has improved the program in about every way. We particularly like our annual taxation electronic record keeping. The asked information is organized and accurately placed on forms that I never knew existed. Even if we knew a particular form existed, it may have changed; Turbo Tax keeps track of those changes. We believe that it is consistent, reliable, and accurate. Good information is put into it so that a good end product is the result. We would like the program to go back to comparing our summary data with the national averages.

Have used Turbo Tax for many years and have found it to be quite user friendly
