The program miscalculated a penalty for underpaying estimated taxes. There are two criteria under which one can be exempt from this, one of which uses this year's 1040 and the other of which uses last year's. By both criteria I did not have a penalty, yet TT claimed that I did. This took me a lot of time to correct.
What's great about it: Good program for most things
What's not so great: Miscalculated my penalty for extimated taxes
Liked the ease of answering the questions posed and being able to stop and exit the program with all answers entered securely placed on the form. Liked being able to review when I forgot some deductions and edited my entries. Seeing the refund or payment panel for both Federal and State returns was helpful, especially when information on last year's entry was there for comparison. A very nice feature.
What's great about it: Flow was logical and excellent, taking 99.9% of all situations under consideration. Very intuitive; easy to understand
I've been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years... Each year I'm more impressed how easy and helpful Turbo Tax has become. Even in my difficult Tax years TT has ensured I got all my deductions and the return was correct. Turbo Tax will always be my tax software.
What's great about it: The walk thru is great at asking questions and giving examples of what kind of income or deductions go in the section
What's not so great: Took some time to resolve supporting worksheets to a deduction when I entered things directly to the form.
Took all the tedious filling in of numbers. I had used TurboTax last year and it was able to input all of my W-2s for this year without me having to make a single entry. Totally amazing!
left many fields blank. i had to go into forms and fill in myself and this was after I ran federal review with no errors. only after running error check in state did I get the errors on my federal which were blank fields. after getting everything corrected it would not let me e-file due to having $0 for AGI (the result of non-taxable SSI income).I I now have to file by mail after paying for a version that included free e-file and free state. I've used turbotax for many years and have never had this many problems. Next year I'll have to re-evaluate my choice of tax software
