Everything worked really well except for one minor discrepancy. My ex-employer contributes to Long Term Care Ins and reports their contribution on a 1099MISC. Turbo Tax assumes this form is being used to report income from a job.
I am not sure if it will be a problem, it is a very small amount. Don't remember running into this last year.
What's great about it: Leads user through all forms if needed
What's not so great: Quirk with 1099 MISC assumed it was earned income
I have been using Turbo Tax for many years now. I have never had any problems, and I'm always confident that my taxes are done right. I know using Turbo Tax saves me a lot time time, versus trying to Google various subjects to learn what I should know to file properly.
What's great about it: Simple to use, saves me alot of time, provides peace of mind.
What's not so great: OK, wish was cheaper to purchase.
I'd like to have more room here for pros & cons, if you want details. I like Turbo Tax, but I also like to recheck, recheck. Education I couldn't go back and separately adjust tuition and books/supplies/lab.
What's great about it: Easy to sort through all the tax return areas
What's not so great: Difficult to go back and amend numbers. I would like to be able to start over with an area and ALL the questions
