I do volunteer tax preparation for a large organization and use another professional software package, but TurboTax is much easier and intuitive. The learning curve for the other package requires hours of class room training, on tax code and application of the software. Vs I've been able to get a new user up and doing their personal or small business return in a couple of hours, TurboTax's interview mode can get the most novice person through their return in no time.
What's great about it: Ability to flip between forms and prompts
Having used Turbo Tax for over 10 years, have never had an audit for either Federal or state filings. I feel I have received the maximum refunds and lowest payments without having to go to tax preparing firms and spending excess dollars on the service. I also feel I can go to Turbo Tax with any question or concern within the program and get it resolved.
What's great about it: Program lets me go to any function to enter data or updates and can view actual tax forms on the spot.
What's not so great: After entering updates, don't like having to fill follow-up questions or requests repeatedly to finish the section.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
