TurboTax imports your prior year's info so you don't have to keep inputting recurring info on your family etc. and updates your kids ages, tax credit eligibility etc. It also shows you your prior year's figures for all items so you don't forget anything and can compare year to year. Deluxe TurboTax also handles home small business filings like a champ too. Go TurboTax!
What's great about it: Easy...TurboTax walks you right through your return and reminds your of tax items you either don't know or forget.
I just filed my mom's tax return and am working on mine and my son's. I first used it in 1994 and have filed with Turbo Tax every year since - 20 years! That's a good product that still makes it easy and explains all the quirks and changes in tax law for our 3 different situations.
What's great about it: Still love Turbo Tax for all of our family's filings - easy for all generations
What's not so great: If only I could get Turbo Tax to pre-organize our paperwork before we input!
I have been a long time user of TurboTax. In 2006 I switched to a competitor’s product for one year and switched back. Importing last year’s info is most helpful feature. A feature that has been deprecated is comparisons to national averages. I miss that feature. One misleading BUG in the software is state sales tax and if you use tables or not. The TurboTax Dialogue form does not show the tax table amount in the form. It does put it in the IRS form Schedule A correctly. I spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why I was not allowed to take sales tax deduction. The TurboTax form with header “Your 2013 Deductions &Credits” in the section “Estimates and Other Taxes Paid” Line Sales Taxes on my form has a zero for 2013 year.
What's great about it: Interface works well
What's not so great: Intro survey pops up every launch. ( I filled it out first time.)
