I've used TurboTax for several years now, and have been happy with them each time. I'm an over-the-road trucker, plus I'm retired military, so my tax picture isn't typical. I use the Deluxe edition, and I've not had any problems each time I use it.
What's great about it: Easy to follow, guide explores all the options
With regard to the Federal tax return the program offers no insight on filing a return for a deceased tax payer. Who should sign the return & where. No insight at all
The state program offers up form MI 1310 but after the completion of the form, again without insight or recommended directions or even links to instructional publications the Program ends
What's not so great: Could not easily find form MI-1310 to make a change on the document no matter how many times to start from the begining
All was just fine until attempting to E file just the Fed return. My first attempt. Had refund due from both Fed and State. Got to the last screen when going through the Fed E File routine where it said my refund was the sum of Fed and State. Caused enough concern to stop right there and print to mail.
As above, it finally dawned on me that the program was saying look how much we got back for you!!! WOW!! You follow the law! So what it is it is. If I ever wish it to be what it isn't I'll work that out myself....
What's great about it: Program doing taxes works well. Most instructions are good.
What's not so great: Advertising in program is preaching to choir!
