Will do again in 2014!

Feedback: open file where left off at close.
What's great about it: Federal was a breeze. State pretty easy. Non resident state very difficult for me for K-1..
What's not so great: Not being an accountant, some of the questions (step by step) were very confusing to me. Forms were easier at times.

After many years still have trouble!
on March 21, 2014

Turbo changes every year to conform to the changes of the law and it makes "improvements" supposedly to make filing easy. Over the years of using Turbo, I learned to skip the interview, go straight to the forms to file. I'd rely on Turbo to do computations.
If you have to file a paper returns Turbo can be a bit tricky to report a foreign earned income and you don't have a W-2. This year Turbo prevented "override" unless you are an e-filer, but it didn't offer an alternative for paper filers how to go about doing it. It took a good amount of time to get around this "can't override" thing. So I'd say, the improvement wasn't necessarily helpful in my case.
Make sure you know how to manually double check everything before filing to make sure Turbo didn't make mistake because Turbo does make mistake even though it clears "errors" before filing. Point in case, it conveniently omitted Form 2555 (FEI) altogether from its "Official Forms to file" (tax year 2012) and got me into considerable trouble with the tax office!
Bottom line, Turbo Tax is okay to use but you got to know what you are doing, what you need to submit, be able to manually double check its computations as well as its final prints.
What's great about it: Go straight to forms, skip the interview, Turbo does the math
What's not so great: When filing online isn't for you Turbo can be tricky

Turbo Tax 2013

Very good product. Have used it for three years now and it gets easier each time. I really like how it stores your information for next year and then transfers it onto your next years tax forms. Saves time typing all of that info in.
What's great about it: Easy to use and understand
What's not so great: Some terms a little different than what I thought they were

It shouldn't advertise for free - because it really isn't. I had to pay for the software and pay to have the state filed. Seems like that is "NOT FREE".
What's great about it: Convenient
What's not so great: Quite costly

Tough to e-file
on March 21, 2014
Posted by: Dutchman17
When i tried to e-file, as I've done for years, I received a message saying that I needed to update TurboTax. I had just done that, so there were no updates! Had to go to problem solving on line to be told that I should restart my Mac and then re-open TurboTax. That worked and i finally could e-file.
Also if I tried to use e-file as one word, your spell corrector kept changing it to exile.

Worked as Usual

Use TurboTax for many years and it still does a good job.
I like the imported data feature and the importing of all personal information. This year an empty form E was filed and not necessary.
But on whole was easy to use.
What's great about it: Imports last year data and data from quicken. efiling made easy
What's not so great: A few places with data entry when form and needed data is not clear
