My taxes have become very basic, The power of this version is like using sledge hammer on a thumb tack.
Because I had been self-employed before and still use Quicken Home and Business I thought I needed the matching higher powered Turbo Tax. Next year I will move to Basic.

Easy and fast, but since I am a first timer I hope I did it right. Seems to be in comparison to last years CPA review I had.
What's great about it: Anyone can do it
What's not so great: I hope i did it right

Have been using Turbotax since before 2002. Don't know how I could get along without it. On this years return, I had a question which required contacting customer service. They were extremely helpful.
What's great about it: System inproves with age
What's not so great: On this return, not much

Great Job

Having all my materials together and ready makes using Turbo Tax a breeze. It even points out possible deductions I had not considered.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax will not let me miss a deduction. Asked me all the right questions.
What's not so great: The nut loose between the keyboard and seat.

1099R
on March 20, 2014

Re 1099R
I have two 1099R's. One is my monthly retirement income; taxes are deducted.
My other is an IRA that required me to withdraw my RMD, which I had done, and paid taxes on the amount.
For some reason TurboTax wanted me to withdraw another RMD or pay the 50% penalty.
I finally deleted all my entries and started over.
As an aside, I imported only one of the 1099R's. The payee for my monthly retirement payment is not listed in your list of companies that participate in your program.
What's great about it: Was able to delete file and start over
What's not so great: Making entry when you have two 1099R Forms

Appreciate TurboTax

Make it easier for me to skip past the income section as I am on retired disability. Make it easy for my wife who is retiring this year to be able to complete her income section, and then skip to the retired section ( I do the taxes for both of us as we file together, but I do the work).
I had all the pertinent information, but it took me a little over 7 hours to complete, but I like to check and recheck as I go.
What's great about it: Will use again.
What's not so great: Had to search for specifics.
