I like Turbo Tax. I have used it for about 15 years. It would be nice at the end if you just automatically save a copy of the returns as a pdf.
What's great about it: The information that is carried forward year after year
What's not so great: I wish more W2s could be imported. Some what confusing when going between interview mode and form mode.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Minor annoyances

I've been using Turbo Tax since 1983 -- both as a practitioner and, now, as a retired State government employee. Yes, TT has been around a long time and has improved the ease of use every year. TT accommodates substantial complexity in my tax filings that seem to get more and more complicated each year.
I would have liked more help with a disallowance of IRA contributions for 2012 and couldn't get help from TT. Turns out its quite complicated. I eventually persevered to get an answer by studying various IRS documents.
What's great about it: Hit the middle on almost all issues
What's not so great: Can't apply refunds to estimated liability.

suggestion: When the app finds a problem or item that needs to be edited, a "take me there" button would help instead of having to navigate to it on your own. I had a government securities bond that had a name that was too long for the field. (the word government should have been abbreviated as "gov."
The app took me to the form which would not let me edit the name. (tried single click, double click, and right click) I finally went back into the income section and edited the name in the1099-DIV location.
(side note: the bottom of this webpage does not have a "submit" button. It only has a "preview" button.

VERY mixed review!

As a result of the two TurboTax 2013 programs on my hard drive, when I went to finish e-filing my returns the Promo self-launched and would not allow me to shut it down, nor would it move forward.
If it weren't for your tech support and two hours of joint effort I would never have gotten my problem straightened out and I would have switched to another tax software provider after 10 years, without a glitch.
Can someone PLEASE make that promo software suicide after the real software is downloaded?
What's great about it: loaded information quickly and efficiently
What's not so great: I don't recall getting instructions to remove the 2013 promotional software that came on the disk I received in the mail

Along with guiding the uninformed low-information taxpayer through the filing process, you supply on-the-spot information about why you need x-y-z info, and online access to IRS or other sources for info as well. All of this is an educational process as well, so as I go into future years I'll be able to think ahead as to stockpiling appropriate supporting documents, etc. that will be needed to complete those returns.
What's great about it: Guides me every step of the way
What's not so great: Asking for line item amounts from last years return when I've already transferred all info from that prior year's return

Make It Easier

For calculating total income, please add Form SSA-1099 as an income selection. Today one has to put the string into the search area to figure out how to enter it. For simplicity, it should be listed after W-2.
Similarly, there should be a more direct way to entire supplemental insurance premiums. Today, that’s a hunting task too.
What's great about it: Most of the process is direct
What's not so great: Hunting to discover how to enter the Form SSA-1099, and supplemental insurance premiums

Have used this products for many years and it is wonderful, especially if you have state taxes to prepare.
What's great about it: Ease of completing multiple state returns
What's not so great: None that I can think of!
