Makes taxes fun!

As long as you have copies of your previous returns on the computer you are using and have your paperwork organized, you can complete the process in under an hour. I organized my paperwork for the year, gathered my tax papers needed and filed the return in a total of 3 hours. Even when I had rental property and investment gains and losses, the process was efficient and even though it took a little longer, I had piece of mind that I did not miss anything. I can depend on them to be up to date with the current tax laws which also saves me time. The cost is minimal compared to other tax consultants. In my experience, the responsibility is always on the tax payer to make sure everything is included and Turbo Tax covers all situations, even those you may neglect to think about. I have used them for years and have had recommendations from other accountants who also use them. They're that good!
What's great about it: Efficient, organized, takes the worry out of leaving something out
What's not so great: No copies of previous returns
We are long-time users of TurboTax, and we love it! Very user-friendly, great for folks who have done their own taxes for years, but also great for beginners, too. We have a business (S-Corp), dividends, capital gains, plus itemized deductions, and we were able to breeze through our return with no problems.
What's great about it: Walks me through everything I need, asks questions I wouldn't have considered
Turbotax always seems to have issues with Iowa taxes. I kept getting an error message for Schedule B for a line that did not even exist. I thought I had eliminated the error -- as Turbotax error check informed me and I proceeded to efile. Apparently Iowa return was rejected (Federal was accepted; no issues), but I did not receive any notification via email that it was rejected. Finally I went back into my Turbotax account and found that it had been rejected. I ran error check again, and was told no errors - so hopefully the efile goes through this time.
The other area Turbotax has issues with on on the Iowa return is Form 130 Out of State tax credit. You really have to work with the input to get the correct result.
What's great about it: federal fairly smooth
What's not so great: state (Iowa) needs improvement
