I started with a pile of W-2s, 1099-INT/DIV/B/SSA/B, 1098 Mortgage Statements, Car Taxes and charitable activity notes and worked my way through the program. One and a half hours later, the stack was gone - everything had been entered in the proper place. I was pleasantly startled when I saw the depth of information imported from a mutual fund I use as a savings account with two deposits each month and occasional withdrawals; all the tracking data from cost basis at purchase to Gain or Loss on withdrawal done for me - 23 entries of fractional shares bought and sold. Turbo Tax continues to get better each year - and Federal Filing is Free!!
What's great about it: Automatic and detailed downloads from most of my financial institutions. Brought forward last year's information.
This is the first year in MANY years that I have had problems. Some how one of my Charity address kept causing an error because of the zip code. I had to delete it entirely and then reenter (but it did not ask me for the address again).
Then I kept getting an error when try to file..need to check for updates but when I did there were no updates. I used help to find out more about this error. Once I rebooted my MAC it uploaded fine.
I have used Turbo Tax for many years and find it much easier than doing it manually. The fact that it finds the right forms and does all of the calculations saves a lot of time. The program is worth what I pay for it.
What's great about it: Mostly easy to navigate and enter data
What's not so great: College Fund Donnation was a little hard to find. You try to sell a lot of add-on services that I consider unnecessary.
