2013 Turbo Tax Review by Mjd

Love, love TurboTax but extremely concerned about privacy when taken to 3rd party site to file via email. First time I chose this. I didn't like or was I able to understand this option. Backed out of it but concerned about the pdf file that was downloaded to their site. Is it still on their site? Guess I'll have to trust TurboTax but will need to spend some extra time making sure my private information has not been compromised.
What's great about it: Very easy.. Been using it for years
What's not so great: Very concerned that I when taken to a 3rd party site to file by email

I like that the Turbo Tax is thorough in all areas and that there is an explanation for most everything. I never used the support forum, but nice to know it is there.
What's great about it: Clear, easy and fast
What's not so great: No Free E-file for State

I used to dread doing taxes. Now, I still dread doing taxes but it is way easier & I know that it is being done right.
What's great about it: Love that it loads previous years info. Major time saver! I like the audit risk meter too - reassuring.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Desktop App: In-depth but Not Overwhelming

I've always filed online using TurboTax free version, but ended up using the desktop Deluxe version instead (for mac). Although the interface is nicer online, I felt more guided on the desktop version since it showed me sections only as I completed them. The buttons were written in a way that made me feel like I knew what the next step was before I got there.
Overall very easy to use. You can go in depth with the plentiful "learn more" links as much as you want.
Only times I was uncertain:
- I didn't realize right away that my information was saved via a file on my computer.
- Wasn't sure how much I was paying for State e-file before I got to the end.
- Most importantly, I encountered a validation error that prevented me from e-filing (AH!!). Thankfully TurboTax Support came in handy and I found my answer within a few minutes. In case anyone needs it as well - http://tax.sh/1g1Pbrv

What's great about it: conversational explanations, revealed sections one at a time
What's not so great: unsure about saved information, e-file transmission bug

Great, inexpensive and dependable

Overall software is dependable and very easy to use. I have like it and used it since around 1996 1997. I am greatful for the package and would recommend it to my friends.
What's great about it: Ease of use, outstanding range of questions, constant updates

I not only like Turbo Tax, I actually enjoy doing my own taxes with your program. Very seldom do I come across any question that can't be answered by the "learn more" button. Thanks for continuing to upgrade the program and make it even more user friendly each year. I will be using Turbo Tax for the foreseeable future.
What's great about it: Everything I needed to do the job right the first time.
What's not so great: Only one thing in Contributions: Expenses with my donation-There was a place for miles driven but not for miles flown
