The use of TurboTax gets easier and easier each year. Because I've used the software for many years, I have compiled a database to compare this year's return with others from the past that has led me more than once to re-review my information. This leads the user to have a higher comfort level that the return has been done right, and that credits and deductions are appropriately taken. For this year, I needed to assure myself that the appropriate Required Minimum Distribution was occurring on a pension. The primary Turbotax software was a little lacking in information, but the support FAQs came to the rescue.
The new feature that leads one through Health Care changes was interesting to use, and was the first time that I realized that more than one exchange/website is available in California.
Turbo Tax allows for quick, easy, and reliable entry of tax information. Since it remembers what you filed last year there is less likelyhood of omitting information. This year I utilized the on-line help to resolve an issue and was pleasantly surprised at the fast response and the ability of the responder to resolve my issue. Just wish that I didn't have to manually scroll down on every screen in order to either "continue" or respond "yes/no". I guess with a larger monitor this isn't a problem but can't see why the screen design can't incorporate these boxes up higher on the screen.
The program walked me through every possible tax point, very professional, concise and to the point. I like the ability to retrieve last year's information to guide me this year. I appreciate automatic e-filing, and having a copy of all pertinent forms available for my records. This makes what used to be drudge work a breeze to figure and file. Thank you for this great product!
If Turbotax wants to get even better, try finding a way that one could type in a list of charitable contributions and then automatically have a value assessed according to the chart. Scrolling through the lists and plugging in the quantities was the only thing that I found tedious. Again, really not a con, just an opportunity to be even easier.
