I have twins, I did their returns on turbotax. All THREE of them.... When I did the 2nd return it overwrote the 1st return. it saves by using the last name and 1st initial and date.....I did the returns on the same date and they both have the same 1st initial in their names....
I have an accountant do my taxes, but I get turbo tax for my Kids that have Jobs and go to school. its five stars for that...
Turbotax is very user friendly and a lot easier than going to someone else and paying them for what you can do for yourself. If you can get a refund enjoy it instead of them.
So, for example, if I want to know what numbers make up "wages and salaries" or "tax withholding" how do I get that? Unless one is in a particular step to examine a particular number, one cannot verify that number. I should be able to click on "wages and salaries" or "tax withholding" and see all the items that make up that number. Also, why do you exclude social security and medicare from tax withholding?
When signing the return for state filing, I as the first name on the joint return have pre-filled the income number from the prior year, but when it comes to my wife the box is blank. Since it was a joint return in the prior year (which TurboTax already knows since I used TurboTax last year), why doesn't Turbot tax enter the same income number? I entered it, but because there really was no instruction or help available, it made me wonder if I should have left it blank.
I've used TurboTax for years, but had a complicated situation last year and went to an accountant. Back to normal this year, so back to TurboTax--and again I found it very helpful and easy to use. I like the fact that you can have it do the interview--but you can also go directly to the forms, to enter information directly.
As to my comment about pricing plans--you either pay a low price for federal and then pay for state, or pay a higher price for federal and get state free . . . but it amounts to virtually the same. I was annoyed to have to go through the calculations when they ended up at the same place.
Once I had all my paperwork together, it only took about an hours to complete my taxes, including efiling. The investment import saved me hours. Thanks TurboTax for another fantastic year.
