After several years of filing with TT, this year I get an error message amd cannt file electronically. If I am to believe the posts, there is a problem with the disk. I go to the website and find it looks like a message board with people asking questions and random people answering the questions. What if that random person is a nut? The website should be more robust given the popularity of TT. I don't pay for TT to get answers from random people. Plus, I paid to file my state return elecytronically and I can't do it because of the glitch!! Ugh! So now I have to file my returns in person or thru the mail. Not good TT not good!!
I have been using TurboTax for quite a few years and find it accessible and easy to use. A few years have been a little more complex with independent and freelance work, but the process has always been easier due to the software.
TutboTax sorts out the details and presents the process in a logical fashion. Each clearly defined step make the complex process simple.
Same thing happened last year. All information entered without issue, but running Error Check brings up issues that are not comprehensible. Two examples: 1. Adoption cost information for 2012 and 2013 was entered. Error Check reveals a missing field, but instructions around that field are scarce and vague. 2. I did consulting with business and car expenses last year. None in 2013. TT forced me to got through the worksheet for mileage deductions... but I had no such mileage. It should have asked me if I had earned any Consulting cash or wanted to enter deductions for it.
I would like to see the ability to import K-1 documents from LP & MLP's on the Deluxe Turbo Tax. K-1's are complicated. There are places to enter dollar amounts, but the descriptions do not match with the MLP's wording, making it difficult to figure out where they go. I have been using Turbo Tax for at least 11 years and maybe more, but I didn't look in my tax boxes.
