Flimsy and tacky

Received this as a gift about a year ago. Eye sore in the kitchen and after light use, as started falling apart. "Instruction manual" is useless.

The syrups leave much to be desired especailly the cola both diet and regular. I like the machine. The syrups have a strong chemical taste. Ginger Ale is just barely tolerabel no where near as good as Schweeps or even Segrams.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My sister had one, and i thought it was cool, this morning she gave me a gift and it was a soda stream, I love it. It so easy to use and it's a great thing, it save you money, it makes 33 12 oz. cans of soda... Do the Math! A average 24 pack cost 9.99! Save you money and it's fun! Tip: if it's brand new, push down 7-10 times for fizz.

Awesome but......

This machine is awesome. It is durable and the sodas taste so good! But I have one complaint. When I push the release lever I find it hard to unscrew the bottle with one hand. Holding the lever and unscrewing the bottle s a difficult task. But is is AWESOME!

A couple of years ago I bought a Soda Stream for my 84 year old brother's Christmas birthday (but couldn't wait until then so gave it to him in September!). His doctor has emphasized how important it is for him to drink 8 cups of water everyday. He doesn't like water--even purified water or other expensive so-called "good for you" waters, most of which are loaded with sugar and other not so good ingredients. I chose a simple one that would be easy for his awkward arthritic hands. Once he started using it he grew totally dependent upon it to meet Doctor requirements. A month ago and many, many refill replacements ago, he wore out his original carbonated water-n-juice fountain jet! We ordered one recently and he uses it daily. You might say it's a life-saver for my 86 year old brother.
