This Device IS Truly Note-3-Worthy!

I called the Note 3 a device because its too much gadget to call it just a phone. My friends and family call me the cool, techno-gadget geek. The description fits because I don't just like owning the best, new technology, but I like knowing the ins and outs. I pride myself on always having the best phones available. All the way back to the Treo, Omnia, Droid Bionic, iPhone 4 & 5, etc. I've owned three Toshiba Qosmios (typing on one now), the Thrive, Tab 2, and Note 8 tablets; and use an ASUS Transformer book for travel. This is not me bragging but rather attempting to establish my credibility as a knowledgeable techie.
That said, this will Not be a review written in "tech" speak; there'll be no benchmark tests or fancy terms followed by numbers. That's not what I want when I read a review so that's not what I'll give. So, straight talk, here we go. Before buying the Note 3 I used the Note 2, which I loved. Both use the S-Pen but the Note 3 has extended the pen's functionality with "air" apps. These apps appear when you slide the pen out and auto hide once the pen is clicked into place. They give quick access to memos, scrap booking, writing directly on the screen to add notations to articles, etc., and more. It comes stocked with many other useful apps and, of course, there's the usual bloat ware but at least now you can delete most of it. But who buys a phone for the apps on it? I mean, we can do much of that ourselves. No, don't buy the Note 3 for its great pre-installed apps; buy it because of how those apps run on it!
The Note 3 is FAST! My apps load right up once I tap one and the transitions are smooth and seamless. Taking photos or shooting video is amazing; better than many quick shot, stand alone cameras. There's almost no lag in between shots, and shooting with 13 mega pixels in HD allows me to display my pics on large screens with little to no quality loss. It has built-in Infra Red which allows you to use it as a remote to control your TV or other infra red capable devices. Now it is a bit awkward to hold at first and will take some getting used to. When I had my Note 2 it seemed like everywhere I'd go someone had jokes about the size of my phone. Its gotten better now or maybe I've just gotten used to it, either way, it doesn't matter because I love the large screen. Everything is easier to view on the Note 3 and adjusting a setting makes increasing font sizes as easy as turning up the volume. Oh yes, and when it comes to watching videos or streaming movies, I catch those same jokers watching from their seats. One day, while waiting for prescriptions at Kaiser Permanente, a gentleman approached me to inquire about my phone. He wanted to know the make/model because he had failing eyesight and liked being able to easily see my screen from across the room (that also meant I needed to be aware of shielding sometimes). In fact, the Note 3, with its larger screen, is like always having a PDA tablet, camera, and phone all in one!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, larger screen, fast processing, s-pen/s-pen apps, 13 mp camera - rear, 2 mp camera - front, hd camera, hd display, large display
Cons: can be awkward to hold due to size, s-view case awkward to hold when photographing, poor case options, lacks quality styling
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been a cell phone salesman for quite a few years and have had the opportunity to play with nearly every phone that has come out. This is not only the best that Samsung has ever launched, it is hands down the best cell phone that I have ever seen. From running side by side tests with other current cell phones (speed tests, camera quality and shutter speed, screen resolution, loadup times after clicking on an app) the Note 3 won every single one of them, not to mention this test also included the iPhone 5s. The only thing I would say as a precaution to potential buyers is that this is a fairly large phone. Not over-the-top large but it did take me about a week of carrying it around and using it to get used to the feel of it and now it doesn't bother me. Over all, this has been a phone that has impressed me in every category. Cost may be a little on the high end but definitely worth it. Great job Samsung!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, ease of use, attached stylus
Cons: only one external speaker, cost of device

Worth it for the improved s-pen integration and multitasking alone...

I just upgraded from the S3, and I am just pleased with this phone. I don't think it is for everyone though. Before you go with the Note 3 over the S4, ask yourself two questions:
1. Am I good with having a big phone?
2. Am I willing to invest a little time in the first few days to learn drive this machine. (or if not, am I going to be happy with the easy mode)
I fit both these criteria because I have big hands, and I love to tinker. I've spent time on tips and tricks videos and articles and the more I see, the happier I am. In just two days, I've become a pen wizard, and to the uninitiated eye, it looks like I'm doing magic tricks. I am able to, for instance, take a picture of a student experiment in lab, mark it up with arrows and comments, and then immediately post it to my class. When something like that takes me under 2 minutes, there are many ooohs and aaahhs.
As a note 10.1 user, I'm no stranger to the S pen. The note 3 has kicked the s pen functionality up a notch.
With one exception. The changes to the f(x) functionality in s note are not good. I think the option to circle formulas and shapes to transform them is a good added feature, but it is in no way a worthy replacement for being able to see a flowchart take shape step by step so you can back up if something doesn't turn out the way you hoped. I don't understand why we can't have both.
The camera is incredible. It takes beautiful photos, and is easy to use.
Don't neglect to investigate action memo. I know that some phone features are a bit gimmicky, like smart scroll, but not this one. You can access action memo with your pen through the pen menu, and through an even quicker shortcut. Once open, it gives you a window you can scrawl in. You can then send what you wrote to several apps. For instance you can jot down a name and number, then send that into your contacts, or just directly dial the number. You can Jot down a calendar entry and send it to the calendar. The handwriting recognition is nearly flawless out of the box.
There is also an integrated feature that allows you to use writing in any text entry box.
And don't forget to investigate the multi-window features, including the one available via s-pen. We are getting closer and closer to desktop-like multitasking.
And check out some of the free math apps for s-pen. I could ace a trig test with my s-pen and it's been 20 years since I took the class.
Hardware-wise, this phone is a beast. Just look at the specs. You won't be disappointed with the speed and the display. The only corner cut was the speaker. It isn't bad, but it isn't top of the line like pretty much everything else in the phone, so it stands out.
Bottom line. In just two days, I've come to rely on many of the unique features in this phone. If I had to go back to my s3, or even an earlier note, I'd sorely miss them. There isn't a phone in the world I'd rather have...not yet anyway. I'm looking forward to the note 4.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, improved s-pen integration, great camera, improved multi-window features
Cons: mono speaker, f(x) functionality reduced from earlier models

You may not think that Samsung could deliver on top of perfection from the Note II, but they have done it yet again!
I recently activated my Note III and I couldn't be happier with the product. It packs all of the features of the S4 and includes many more that a geek would LOVE! The S Pen has been updated to fit your lifestyle, the camera is significantly improved over the Note II, and the battery life is no joke! I have successfully gotten at least 12 hours out of my battery life while using multiple account syncs, photos, Facebook, Twitter, BBM, GPS tracking, Step Counter, etc.
If you're on the fence about getting this phone, go get it! You will NOT be disappointed!
PS - The included SketchBook for Galaxy app is amazing!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, gorgeous, s pen, battery life

This phone is so great. I got this phone on Launch day and so far I have no complaints. The design was step up from the Note 2, but could still be improved. I love the fact that this phone has a Micro SD Card slot because I have the 32 gb model and I am a power user so I will need more space in the future. The S-Pen is very useful and the features like action Memo are somewhat useful. The Snapdragon 800 never lags at ALL and the display is phenomenal. Also I am coming from an iPhone 4s so this screen is Ultra-Huge for me, but I got used to is. I cant use my iPhone anymore. It feels like a toy.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight, s-pen, micro sd card slot, huge screen
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cream of the Crop

The wait is finally over. This device could not be of better design, quality nor value, and I paid full price to keep my "unlimited" data plan through Verizon.
I have been waiting for this device ever since my wife got a Note 2 back at the beginning of 2013, and it certainly does not disappoint! I previously had a Galaxy Nexus and then took possession of her GSIII when she got her Note 2. My time has come.
The Note 3 has the best performance of any hand-held device I have used, and there have been a lot. The feel of the device in my average sized hands is quite comfortable, and this was my only concern prior to purchase. Android 4.3 is a great upgrade from the previous versions I have most recently used (4.1.2 & 4.2) although the camera on the Note 3 has been known to show a black screen from time to time when I try to launch it. A reboot always fixes the issue, and I suspect it will be addressed in a future update. The photos are fantastic! Full HD video is stunning.
Being able to have a pen and paper with me at all times is something I have been looking for, and the Note 3 delivers. There are many uses for this pen, unlike with the Note 2 which seemed to be a bit limited.
All in all, I suspect this device will keep me more than happy for a few years to come, or until the "next big thing is here" from Samsung. The Note 3 will NOT disappoint!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, great photos, great battery life, tacky to the touch battery cover (black), great online manual
Cons: currently there is a lack of accessories
