Hasn't let me down

Its great to be able to wirelessly print, scan up to 11" x 17" docuements. The reliability and ease of use has us hooked on Brother products.

My Brother printer is great but even better than that is Brother's customer service. I've contacted them a couple of times and their service and concern for the customer is top notch. How the customer is supported after the sale speaks volumes about the company.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lots of features. Even more problems.

Pros:
- duplex print/scan at 8-1/2 x 11 and 11 x 17

Cons:
- My unit arrived with a defective printhead. Getting it fixed under warranty was a nightmare. Brother's phone support was the worst I have come across. Ever.
- With any paper larger than 8-1/2 x 11, the paper tray sticks out in front of the printer.
- Applications on my Mac (including Vuescan) can't reliably see the scanner.
- Printing a PDF from the Mac sometimes doesn't print everything in the document. (The same document prints fine on other printers.)
- Many features only work with common paper sizes. I use 9x12 paper for songbooks, and at 9x12, I can't scan, can't copy, can't print duplex, and can't use more than one paper tray. The only thing it can do is print single-sided.

I am amazed that people complain about noise (no more than any other printer I have known) and personal issues with the sellers.
This is bar none the best printer I have ever owned of at least 20. The large format is great for my need to produce B-size drawings; the double-sided feature saves paper and has never jammed. I recommend this printer for anyone who has the room for it and can use its features.
I use it with a Mac and wireless installation was a snap. I did not use a USB cable as this was unnecessary.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Well worth the Money

I purchased this as a replacement for my MFC-6490 and so far it has exceeded my expectations. Scanning letter size documents is very fast using the landscape scanning feature in both B&W and color. Printing is fast once the document loads but it takes a while for the document to load so the overall print speed doesn't seem much faster than my MFC-6490. As a result, I have to give this printer only 4 stars, but, I am hoping there will be a firmware update to fix the loading time. The printer is connected via WiFi through a new AC router, so, I can't figure out why it takes so long to load documents for printing.
I have not tried any of the newer feature yet but some of them sound interesting. If you work with 11x17 documents, printing and scanning, this is the best multi-function machine for the money.

I upgraded to this model from my old 6490CW. I love the new features of this machine! Purchased specifically because it handles 11X17 paper and is multi-function. The scan functions directly to a PDF file rather than a jpeg like my old machine...so much more usable!! Perfect amount of features for small office use.

A few things...
1) When printing 11x17 it doesn't auto to the bottom tray...every time have to manually click bottom tray
2) When printing is interrupted (new ink) it doesn't resume printing where it stopped.
