The printer was easy to set up. I was using it within a short amount of time (I can't remember for sure, but way less than an hour). I have used it for printing addresses on post cards - it had trouble feeding the cards when the stack got low. I have used it for printing a variety of things using both trays. I have copied a page - just to make sure I could! I have used the scanner to save copies on my computer. I had assumed that the initial ink supply would be used up quickly, but I still have most of the colors and half of the black remaining.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great prints, poor setup

The printer worked well initially, however, whenever we loose power it takes forever to reset it to print & scan from a computer. If your internet goes down it resets to a new IP address, requiring all computers on your network to be set to that address! That takes a long time, and the service calls take forever...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

worked perfect the first year

this machine worked flawlessly for the first year then started having paper jamb issues. Brother sent a refurbished machine under the warranty (which I thought was amazing) but the replacement machine has the same issues as the original.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Up until this purchase I have been a HP user. Not anymore! This printer is terrific, Does everything I need it to do, fast efficient and prints great.

Adequate for the job

This machine was purchased as a replacement for the very same model after a mishap (not my doing). My last one worked much better. This one keeps giving false readings of "media tray empty" when the tray is actually FULL. It also seems to ignore my commands to print things on letter size paper if there is ledger size in its OTHER tray (note: I use BOTH due to the nature of my printing requirements), forcing me to empty the other tray in order to "fool" it into doing what I want to do in the first place. There are other resetting issues when printing on ledger size paper. Although the machine manages to get the job done most of the time, all of the above issues are very time-consuming when I'm trying to meet a deadline with a large print job. I will be looking at other large-format options for the future.

Mediochre copies

I like the versatility (letter, legal size and 11x17) and the feeding/scanning options. However, the quality of the copies are mediocre, at best. It does a poor job on photos. Colors look faded and it does not make nice crisp copies, whether it is a photo or a document. Colors always appear to be blurry. Overall, I would say I am disappointed and would go back to my previous printer in a heartbeat if it could do larger documents.
