This printer is great - I love the two tray capabilitiy - replaced two older printers with this one. I also love the speed and the scan size options.

Best of all Brother's MFC's

I like the availability to copy and print 11x17 posters and menus.

Not as Happy as with Previous 2 Brother All-In-One

I recently purchased my third Brother all-in-one printer and am very disappointed with this model. It is fine for normal letter size print, legal or ledger on 20# paper.... But, it will not print on heavier paper as the last two printers did. Since I print lots of ledger posters and event tickets on 69# index type paper this is a huge shortcoming! I can sometimes get 1 sheet at a time to go through the by-pass but the drawers are impossible!
I would never buy this model again! Other than that it's a pretty good small home office or home unit, but not business quality at all.
When I contacted Brother customer service they said "Sorry".... that's it!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

check printing problems

We have had several "Brother" printers over the years. This machine performs well except that when printing checks they will come out 2 at a time and leaves you with your next check printing on plain paper. Always printed multiple checks with other machines, and now print one at a time. Lots of wasted paper/time. Never had this issue except with this machine.
Would not recommend if printing checks, but if not, I would say pretty good.

No Alternate Paper Choices

It works great if all you want to do is print standard black and white office copies. Any departure..... note cards, photo prints, mat or glossy paper, vivid color......not so good. You are asking for trouble.
Fair color. Any other paper will most definitely jam....even using the settings for glossy or other paper.

Received this model as a replacement. A little slow response and print. A little noisy for more than 1 person office. Print quality is very good. Appreciate Brother replacing my malfunctioning printer at no cost.

Network and 11x17

We have a small construction office. We use this as a desktop printer in addition to our large b/w printer. This printer is great because it connects to our network and anyone can print to it when they need color prints. It also does 11x17 prints which is great for looking at plans for projects. This is one of the few desktop printers that will network and print 11x17.
We had an issue with the rollers sticking on the stack bypass but with the warranty we had - they just sent us a new one.
I would recommend this to a friend!
