This is the second microwave that I have purchased. The first one was less than two years old when it stopped working. Too expensive to repair.
This second unit is of the same basic style and has the stainless steel cabinet. It operates a little differently than the JES1142SJ06 model. I have only had it in service for one day and noticed these conditions? The door on the new model JES1142SPSS hangs when pressing the door release (opening) button. You sometimes have to manually pull the door open while pressing the release button. Another item that I noticed was when the microwave is finished cooking, etc. the word End comes up on the control panel as En d. A space is between the letters. I don't know if this is the way it was designed or not. I think with all of this country's technology a better product could be developed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nothing overly special about this microwave. We liked it's stainless steel appearance. It seems to work pretty well.
But buttons sometimes have to be pressed multiple times and are somewhat hard to read. Wish it was a handled door instead of the button type.
We've had good success with GE appliances in the past so we hope this will last us a while.

Good features for cost

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had to replace our microwave in less than a year. The cover on inside of door was loose on a corner. GE replaced the microwave at no cost to us.
I would recommend this to a friend!

THE FIRST ONE I HAD TO RETURN AND THE SECOND ONE WAS OK, NOT AS GOOD AS THE BIG BROWN ONE I HAD FOR ALMOST 20YRS.
