Light not working. Latch spring broke.

Poor design of the door latch spring. 90° bends in spring broke at the joint.

Paint inside is chipping

The microwave works fine for some reason underneath the glass plate and the plastic ring that rotates the paint is peeling and rusted. I don’t use any harsh cleaner. I only have it 3 years and it started 2 years ago.

We appreciate you taking the time to review your microwave. We're so sorry to hear that the paint is peeling inside your microwave and understand how aggravating that is. If the coating is actively flaking or paint is peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable) discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. The microwave is not repairable.

The cavity coating in our microwave ovens is selected to be safely used as a food-contact surface and meets our and applicable government requirements for such use.

No lead or other toxic materials are added to the cavity coating material used in our microwave ovens.

The inadvertent ingestion of small amounts of peeling coating does not create a health risk.

We do not have an approved repair method for chips, burns or scratches to the interior coating.

Free Fireworks

This came with our brand new package of GE new equipment. Fridge, Dishwasher and Microwave in august 2017.
Had to replace the dishwasher already and the microwave keeps catching on fire. It says short in the key pad.
We just want the Fridge to hang on at this point. Never in my life had an issue with a microwave.

Not made like they used to

Had to replace side plate about a year ago and just now almost had a fire. Granted this microwave is several years old but I feel like they just don’t build appliances like they used to.

Not working: stopped heating

Purchased 5 years ago with the trim kit. Bought all GE appliances when renovated the kitchen. Stopped working and since I had the extended warranty, I called for service. Was informed that the unit wouldn’t be repaired or replaced; instead I received a check for about 60% of the value. Considering that I had purchased a multi year warranty, I definitely got the short end of the stick as my warranty payments exceeded the amount of the check I received. I do not recommend GE microwaves as they don’t last.

Manufacture default

Looks like most of the users are having same issue, Microwave stop heating after few years of use, I think a manufacture issue. I had issues since it was installed 4 years ago it will just die on me inside light was on but there was no display and will come on by itself after 10-15 minutes. GE send technician but they could not find the problem, they have visited few times and even told me if anything happens again they will replace it but when I called them last year they said I am out of warranty. I stopped heating since last month and makes a loud noise. They do not manufacture it anymore and cannot find similar product to fit in.

A problem from the start!

It’s a nice looking microwave, but it has always had problems with the latch/ door not opening, and always made a strange noise. But now the noise has gotten louder, & it won’t heat food.
After having its predecessor for 15 years, I thought this model would be great, too. But it’s been nothing but trouble. So now I’m afraid to replace it or anything new from GE.
