I've been planning to replace my 10 year old built-in microwave for some time. it was a GE counter top with a trim kit to allow it to be built into a cabinet.... which limits replacement options considerably. We installed the new unit ourselves and had no issues. The new model has a larger interior than the old and I like the look of the trim kit much better than the one we replaced. My only complaint is that GE seems to have changed the finish of their stainless line... it's a bit darker than the rest of my GE Profile appliances, and shows fingerprints and smudges much more noticeably.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice size, but have already had problems.

We bought this microwave just before Christmas. After unpacking, we noticed the plastic facing was discolored where the protective tape had been placed to prevent scratching. Discouraging. Then the oven quit working a month later. The repairman came out and said it was the safety switches that were malfunctioning that wouldn't allow the oven to function. Luckily, our local appliance store took care of us and exchanged it for a new one. It came out of the box with the same discolored plastic, but it works. This model is nice sized, but it seems so cheap compared to the model we replaced that lasted 10 years. This seems to be standard with most appliances built today.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this GE microwave as it has all the things I need. Installed a couple days ago and it looks and works great. My previous GE microwave lasted for 11 years and I have confidence that this one will last a long time too.
