Great Size and Easy Cleaning

I waited for this item to become available to match my range, refrigerator and dishwasher. The slate is so easy to clean on the outside; and the inside is huge and cleans easily also.

Love the look and durability of the slate finish. So happy to be rid of the stainless finish throughout the kitchen. This microwave is working extremely well for us.

Looks Great But A Few Design Issues

A microwave that handles the basics well and has all of the normal, expected features (e.g., popcorn, reheat, defrost, etc). So nothing fancy or extraordinary here from a functionality standpoint. Heating is good. Noise levels are good.
There are a few design issues:
1) the main door can only be closed by a hard push OR by using the middle of the door edge. If you close it by using the top or bottom edges, the door will not fully latch. There really should be a push plate on the middle door edge, which would also minimize fingerprints.
2) The door needs quiet-close capability. The door latch mechanism makes a loud noise each time it engages. Normally this isn't an issue except when you're heating something up at 5 am and the house is dead quiet
3) Finally, the layout of the front panel controls was designed to look aesthetically pleasing but I prefer to have the most used controls be the most obvious, i.e. time, power level, start. For this microwave, the "Timer On/Off" is right next to the "Cook Time" buttons and it's easy to mistakenly hit the Timer On/Off instead of Cook Time. Anytime a guest uses my microwave, I have to explain the controls. It really should be more intuitive.

Died after only two years

I wouldn't buy this microwave. We started having trouble with it about six months ago and now it has completely died.

Very Good Microwave

We unfortunately got some metal wrapped up in a heat pack we were warming and destroyed our old GE Profile microwave. It was a model JE2160 and served us wonderfully for 7 years. This one is essentially the exact same oven in the newest version. The great thing you will find if you are replacing an older GE Profile is that the trim kit has not changed. The old one fit the new one perfectly, thus saving over $200 for a new trim kit. Thank you GE! The only reason this one does not get 5 stars is it makes more noise than our old one. It is not obnoxious or a big deal, but this new model definitely has a noticeably louder sound when running than the older model.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have never come across a situation when microwave goes bad in my past 7-8 years. But, this is a brand new one which was installed by my builder and it is not working now. There are many other houses in which same microwave was installed which is not working.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
