Sparking every use

No guidance on replacement model. Same as other folks, this model is sparking and must be replaced. I have a matching GE oven and both are installed in the wall with matching trim kits I need a replacement that will work with the existing oven.

Sparking badly

This product started sparking 2 years into use randomly despite us not putting any foil or other items inside it. Paid too much to buy this so I kept it in misuse and transitioned to an air fryer oven instead. Looking for a replacement with the trims but I do not see any help on the GE site either. This product should have never been manufactured!

We're truly sorry to hear that your microwave is sparking and can understand your concern. Sparking or arcing in a microwave can be caused by several factors:

Gold / metal trimmed cooking plates / utensils
Recycled paper towels
Some vegetables, such as green beans and carrots
Some types of seasoning such as bacon grease or onions
Little water surrounding the vegetables

Note: These do not mean there is a problem with the microwave, in order to eliminate, cover the food product or add water.

We have had this microwave repaired twice. Now the microwave is not worth repairing that the cost. The item is no longer available. This product, from what other owners are saying, is a bad product. This is not what you expect from a GE product.

Broke down after less than two years. As a bonus, they discontinued this model, so the expensive trim kit I bought for this is useless too.

Only 5 years old, shoots lightning w/ butter

Not even 5 years old and every time I heat up butter there’s zapping and sparks inside. Also does it with chocolate. Going to have to get a replacements, doubt it’ll be a GE though.

unit has been sparking/arch-ing for months. of course its out of warranttee, the best GE can do is suggest a replacement and replacement trim. I will never buy this trash again. GE get your house in order!
