Very disappointing GE microwave model

Very overpriced considering power output. Sadly the first one we bought during kitchen remodel was built in, so we went with the same model when the first one broke after 2 short years. So when the 2nd microwave broke again after 2 short years we did not want to buy this type again. We looked long and hard but could not find one that work in the space. So we RELUCTANTLY ordered once again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Microwave overall

The microwave itself works great. Very quiet also. Bought as a replacement for a similar model from 10 years ago, as a built in. Dimensions changed by about 1/2 inch that caused a couple issues. Also, the holes on the top for mounting under cabinets are not in the same place. The holes are "off" by a bit. They are not in a lined up rectangle. Again, not horrible, but caused new holes to be drilled in cabinet to mount it. Only other thing, is that the stainless shows fingerprints. Would be better to have a handle.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Installation should not have been this difficult!

I purchased this microwave to replace an earlier model that had lasted 15 years. The previous microwave was installed under a cabinet so I assumed the replacement model would have the same holes in the top for easy installation. Nope! Two fo the holes were different on the right side.
Ok, so I looked for a template that I could tape to the bottom of the cabinet to drill the 2 new holes.
NO TEMPLATE!
So I called GE customer service and after a long wait, I was told it is not GE's policy to mail out templates anymore. I downloaded the template from the GE website but it is a pdf sized to be 8.5 X 11 which I could not change to actual size, so no template.
Ok, so I looked for a template that I could tape to the bottom of the cabinet to drill the 2 new holes.

Looks Great-Works Great!!

Being as our old microwave died after 15 years of constant use -- this new model by GE has brought the kitchen into the modern age in both style and function. It was necessary to replace both the microwave and oven because the old one was one unit -- but we determined that we would buy separate units to preclude the same conundrum should one or the other ever fail again. Doing so did require some cabinet modifcation during installation -- but the trim packages actually compliment the appliances appearnce -- so we were not bothered by this fact. We went with the stainless steel finish and other than the frequent wiping to preserve the "new" appearance -- everything functions well and performs fine with the different features that we have used thus far. Very happy with the new GE products in the kitchen and the envy of my neighbors in terms of the updated look the appliances have provided.
I would recommend this to a friend!
