Safety worry

The microwave has started running when the door is opened, this is very concerning and we will be getting a replacement hopefully.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A replacement for an earlier version of the same GE microwave that provided excellent service for almost 15 years of rugged use.

Missing some old features

We had a GE Spacesaver microwave for 20 years and loved it except that in the last 5 years it would stop working and need to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset from time to time. This new one is great, but does not have some of the features we liked with our old one like being able to mute the beeper. The old one allowed us to set the volume of the beeper from High, to Med, to Low to Off. No such option on the new one.
We also like the lighting inside the cavity of the old one much better. The lighting inside the new one is just awkward, too bright in some places and too dim in others.

Functions well, quiet, and looks terrific with the trim kit. The "stainless steel" quality is lacking leaving fingerprints that remain even after wiping. Would have preferred if it was deeper to fit larger items, but the unit otherwise fits perfectly in the built-in location and pretty much does what we need a microwave to do.
I would recommend this to a friend!

So far, so good

This is the only uWave we know of that fits the niche in our kitchen cupboards. Its predecessor worked hard & well for us for ~5 years till its door switches failed. So far, the door switches on this new one have not failed. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that they won’t.
