Works whenever it feels like working.

The “sensor” feature makes it impossible to use consistently. I can’t re heat my coffee because the oven will start, but without power. There have been times when I have to put an additional cup of water along with the food I want to reheat. Even after adding items to the oven, it might or might not work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Optimal size

I first bought a new GE microwave when I built my house over twenty years ago. After ten years of heavy use, the microwave quit working. At that time I couldn’t afford to purchase another one. Since then, I could finally afford to purchase another GE microwave to fit in the space I had for the original one. I’m glad I could find one to fit the space.

I bought this to replace our 10 year old GE Spacemaker Microwave. I bought it because it’s literally the only one I could find that fit the space I have.
There’s nothing wrong with it but like its predecessor it’s a little under powered. My main disappointment is that it looks so utilitarian. It’s just a stainless steel box without the more streamline design of the previous model. It was also listed as fingerprint resistant which is definitely not the case. I find myself wiping it down after practically every use. I’d only recommend it if someone was looking for an under powered, small, not very attractive microwave that shows every fingerprint. Other than that it’s fine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

With that being said, this model is not one that has the fingerprint resistant stainless finish. We truly apologize for any confusion on that. It is simply a stainless steel finish.
As far as the power level, you can adjust the power level on your microwave from settings 1-10. You can find more information on this on page 8 at the link below:

Old, good features missing from this one

I have had two previous GE microwaves since 1988 that mount under the cupboard and they were excellent. They changed the mounting hardware so this one did not fit in like our other two. Had to do a lot of "revamping". Sad that it didn't slide right in like our two previous GE microwaves. Also, when the timer is done, there is one beep and that's it. Our other two kept beeping until we shut it off so if you aren't close by, you'll never hear it. You have to use a separate timer or your cell phone. Also, the interior is just a little smaller than our other two GE microwaves were so if you put something in that doesn't fit exactly on the plate (example - a bacon platter), it will slide off to the side and not rotate.

Okay microwave, but under powered

This microwave works fine, runs nice and quiet, but it takes a good bit longer to heat things up than many other microwaves I've used.

Microwave that replaced the space saver

I really liked the GE Space-saver microwave which was discontinued. I believe this is the model which took its place? I liked not having a turntable and in the space saver microwave I was able to fit a 9x13 dish in there. The buttons on this new model are extremely hard to push. I don’t know why the space saver microwave was discontinued but I think I would consider bringing it back.
