Ordered it on line at ge appliances , it didn’t work properly when I received it. Registered it like I was supposed to. Tried getting ge to fix it but they cannot get anyone to come out. 3months several hours of holding on the phone. Explaining to different agents every time. Still no resolutions.

The internal ceiling flakes out easily and might be dangerous material falling into food items being warmed

We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review on your GE Profile Series over-the-range microwave. We are truly sorry to hear that the microwave oven cavity has begun to peel and flake, as this is certainly not the quality that we expect. Peeling paint can be caused by frequently heating items which produce high amounts of steam. If the condensation caused by this steam is not wiped off directly after use it may cause the paint to lift over time resulting in peeling paint. This is not unlike the reaction you would find in bathroom with no ventilation. It can also be caused when food or liquid finds itself under the tray and we continue to cook without noticing it. The paint around the spot may then start to peel.
Note: If there is any metal exposed on the inside of the unit, the unit should not be used. Exposed metal may cause the unit to spark and therefore could be a potential hazard.

Easy to use. No illuminated panel.

Easy to use. Fits nicely into our upper cabinetry. Downside: the door closes noisily and the none of the numbers or cooking option buttons are illuminated, making it difficult to use during low light.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Working great after 3 years

After three years, there have been no problems. It looks good, works well. We don't use any fancy features, just the number buttons that immediately give you that number of minutes on high, and the 30 seconds button. Seems solid and reliable.

Would have given 5 stars. This model replaced our 2012 PEM31SM3SS. It started to malfunction 2-3 yrs ago. e.g. door shut it would sometimes run before program or come on it’s own.? U could reset by unplugging or open/ close breaker. Then it stopped forever. Fit in cabinet/opening fine however 27” trim kit did not come with a top frame support sheet metal bracket as the original. Without this when u push and shut the door the top part of the microwave moves/flexes! So I modified the old sheet metal bracket with drill press, snips and plastic trim kit inside top with a dermal tool. Beautiful! So a top bracket (sheet metal) should be included in trim kit G.E.!!!!! Only time will tell how durable this new model last.

Described unit should be "0.9 cu ft.".

Your online advertising, registration and most vendors indicate this is a 1.1 cu. ft. model. That is wrong and refers to a different model (countertop model, not built in). This caused us to purchase the wrong model to replace our prior unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Model PEM31SFSS does have a 1.10 cubic foot interior and is capable of being built-in.

Major Design Flaw.

The microwave works great but has a significant and in my opinion major design flaw. On my model, the operating controls are not illuminated and as a result are very difficult to see when installed in a cabinet. In order to select the desired operating activity, it almost requires a flashlight to illuminate the control panel.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
