A bit of a disappointment

Just bought online to replace a previous GE microwave in which the interior paint peeled and dropped chips on food. Have high hopes GE has figured out the paint problem in this new one. Disappointment: except for clock/timer, the control panel is not backlit and buttons are very difficult to see.

Display issues less than 2 years after purchase. Building products that make it just past the 1 year warranty is a bad business practice.

Quit working in less than 3 months

Quit working in under 3 months. Now I have to set up a service call for GE to come and repair. It should have been a replacement given the short amount of time we have had it.

I love this microwave. It is the second one I’ve bought. Only because I had to leave the last one when I sold my home. It is very easy to use, very powerful, has the perfect useful features.

Huge disappointment!

I purchased the PEM31SFSS model as a replacement for the PEM31SMSS model which I had installed in a built-in cabinet 14-years ago. I was shocked and disappointed to learn that the new replacement model was larger and will not fit in the existing cabinet. I had to hire a contractor to rebuild the cabinet to accommodate the larger size. I loved the older model's overall look, bright keypad, additional keypad buttons, ease of opening and closing the door - all of which the new model lacks. I'm baffled as to why GE replaced their space saver microwave oven with one larger that contains a smaller turntable.

We bought a GE Profile Microwave in 2008. Our kitchen cabinets were designed to fit that model. The old unit is performing poorly so we bought the GE Profile Series PEM31SF4SS. Unfortunately, the new model does not fit in the same opening. So now we must modify the cabinet to accommodate our new microwave and it is NOT a simple task. BTW, this is the second new microwave we bought. The first was purchased several weeks ago and it arrived badly damaged. The box and packing material were in perfect condition, however the microwave had the top-rear corner crushed.

door broken - after a year of use

bought it when i upgraded ALL my kitchen appliances to GE. others are all fine. this microwave - after about a year of use (about once a day) - the door is broken. can't even shut it.
