New kitchen, new microwave, poor choice

I bought this microwave because it fit nicely in the trim kit that we needed to go over our new GE oven, at the recommendation of my appliance dealer. I liked the 2.2 cubic foot size, and that my 13 x 9 casserole dishes could fit in it when needed. Other than that, I never looked at the controls, and that is my fault.
On most microwaves that I have owned in the past couple of decades when needing a quick 15 seconds (the time I need to heat my dog's homemade food) I would just press "1" "5" and then "start". On this model, pressing 1 gives a quick one minute, in fact 1-6 are reserved for quick starts for 1-6 minutes respectively. For the 15 second example above, there are 2 choices--(a) press "add 30 seconds" and then wait for 15 seconds to pass and stop the cycle by cancelling or pressing stop or opening the door, but you must be standing right there when that happens, so it is not a good option for me; or (b) press "cook time" then "1" then "5" then "start". The problem is the placement of the "Cook Time" button, which is right below the "Timer On/Off" button and above the "Help". In other words, the 1st button to push is in column 4 (of 4) and row 3 (of 5 rows). The "Start" button is in the middle of the bottom row. I would expect a most-used control to be in the lower right. Whoever designed this control panel put the "Sound" button there. What????
The last microwave I bought last year, for another house and from another manufacturer, had dials instead of touch controls for the time and power, and they could be changed during any cycle. This was extremely useful and gave me extraordinary control and flexibility in using the microwave. It also had a programmable button that I could set for any setting that I wanted (for example, I could set it for 24 seconds at 80% power) and it would remain at that setting until I changed it. Instead, this GE model has a handy(?) "my plate" button that depending on how many times you push it will give you a setting for rice, asparagus, green beans, etc. with about 8 choices. Really? And that button is right across from the "Vegetable" button. For me the "My Plate" button is neither convenient nor useful.
However, I have had no issues with the cooking power, and the separate timer (an important feature for me) works well. Please note that when you have finished a cycle, there will be a beep every so often until you open the door or hit cancel. It does not self cut off.
One small issue is that my door doesn't close all the way unless I close it from the middle or top of the door. My reflex is to close it from the bottom of the door. My appliance installer said that there is no adjustment he could make to fix this.

Looks great...works great...only suggestion would be to make the buttons a little larger...they are smaller than my last GE Microwave and it's difficult to read them!

Touch Buttons a bit small

Overall a good product.
Touch Buttons are a bit small and have to push them a bit hard. An annoyance for those with arthritis.
