Do not recommend

This microwave came brand new with my house 4 years ago. While I was microwaving a paper bag of popcorn (I cannot emphasize this enough, I did not microwave anything metal!), my microwave started sparking and caught fire! Luckily it was contained and no one was hurt. If I could give this microwave zero stars, I would.

We had this microwave under 5 years and it just went out! It was a great unit while it lasted but 5 years is pretty poor in terms of longevity.

15 yrs, then 5 years use…..then dead

Our first model lasted 15 yrs befor the magnetron went out. We replaced it with the same model, and the second unit lasted only five years. It’s a very good microwave, but we are surprised this one failed so soon.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Short useful life

Five years. No longer functional. I expected much more out of this product. I have a small GE microwave on my bar top that's 20 years old and is still working perfectly. All of my new GE kitchen appliances purchased in 2017; double oven, dishwasher, microwave exhaust fan and stove top have had to be serviced multiple times and or replaced.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We had problems with this after the first 6 months

Just not happy with the product. It was very temperamental. We have had good luck with all of our other GE products.

Terrible and unreliable

Nothing but trouble, door switches went bad, followed by thermal cutoff, a diode and now the magnitron. Just a piece of junk, never GE again.

Dangerous - should be Recalld

Like many reviews, my microwave arched and now has a brown burnt hole in the side. It filled the whole house with smoke. These Units should be recalled.
Reflects poorly on the GE brand, and GE profile brand.
