Very Disappointed…major rust issues
on October 19, 2023
Posted by: Jhinkel
from Austin TX
I bought this microwave to replace one they had functions at home for over 20 years. I’ve had this year for less than five years and have major rust issues in the base wear the ring rotates. Every few months I have to clean the base, exposing the rusty areas and use spray paint to revisit, which is only a temporary solution lasting a few months before repeating the process…very disappointing that I have to do this. It will be the last GE appliance I ever purchase

FIRE HAZARD
on October 21, 2023

HAZARD: Do not recommend. I also had my microwave sparking and almost catch the whole built in assembly on fire (Along with ALL of the many customers that are experiencing this). It is obviously a very known issue. I would like GE to reach out and let me know how you intend to fix this issue.

Saturday night popcorn - NOT! 52 seconds into cooking GE microwave arched and flames 🔥 inside right panel. Quickly cancelled and flipped off the breaker. Glad I was standing there when it happened rather my cabinet catching on fire!!! Want to replace with non-flaming model to fit this unit’s cabinet trim piece. Burnt photo available.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello - Thank you so much for taking a moment to connect and share your experience. We're sorry to hear about the arcing that happened. That is never something we expect.
We are going to forward this over to our product team for review, this way we can start looking for improvements we can make going forward. Also, if you are looking for a replacement. We recommend PEB7227ANDD, it does require a different trim kit. Our trim kits are model specific. We're going to share a link here: (https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-2-2-Cu-Ft-Built-In-Sensor-Microwave-Oven-PEB7227ANDD).

fire hazard

had this microwave for over 5 years - (2018) - first started arcing/sparking in 2020... then didn't do it again until recently ... multiple occasions just heating up food and you'd see the sparks flying and arcing occurring. scared me to death. don't buy this for sure. and of course they discontinue it and hten make you buy a new trim kit to fit the new model they 'recommend'. terrible product.

Popping when in use.
on November 3, 2023
Posted by: Michael G00
Owned my current one for 7 years and the paint chipped and not it is popping when I use it. I think 7 years is too short of a life span.
Response from geappliances.comBy Adrian, GE_Appliances, November 6, 2023
Hi! We appreciate your feedback. We are so sorry that your microwave's paint has chipped and is now making a popping sound while in use.
This is not normal operation, and we recommend resetting your microwave by disconnecting power from the unit for 2 - 3 minutes and reconnecting power. If this reset does not revert the unit back to normal operating function, this will require service by a qualified technician. You can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliances technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm . Due to the age of your appliance, it may be more cost effective to replace the appliance opposed to repairing the unit.
Thank you for choosing GE Appliances for your home. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. We're always here to help. - Adrian@GEAppliances
