Hope this one lasts

I just bought the GE profile microwave. This replaces the three previous GE profile microwaves I have owned in past seven years. They all worked great until the electronic panel died roughly 2 years after purchase. The cost to repair was more than buying a new one. This is the only microwave I can find that fits the location in my kitchen. Note the previous version is discontinued. This new one is an inch longer so it requires a new trim kit. Let's hope this one lasts longer. I hate to keep throwing out the old ones as I am very conscious about the environment and landfill.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very disappointed

I purchased this microwave to replace the one I thought most closely resembled the old one that died. It doesn't even come close to the older model's abilities or quality. This one is hollow sounding, the buttons are smaller, and the shortcuts are gone.

Sloppy Design Compared to former model

This new model is a poor successot to the previous model. 1st it is not the same size and I had to adjust the shelf it sits on. 2nd, the prompts are misspelled or poorly abbreviated. 3rd, the logic ot the controls is from another place.

We needed a compact microwave, but still wanted a nice look, easy features and power. This fits the bill!

Perfect Choice for Limited Space

This is my second Profile Series Spacemaker Microwave. I live in a small condominium with a galley style kitchen. As such, countertop space is limited and to maintain a clean, uncluttered appearance this microwave is a perfect solution. It is well designed and durable. Have never had a problem with it.

Not as good as its predecessor

I replaced my 17 year-old GE microwave with its current version. The only differences are the old one was white and this one is stainless steel and has a turntable. I do like the ability to turn off the turntable. I do not like two aspects of the new machine: 1) the door hinge design does not allow a flush fit in my cabinetry, as the old one did, and 2) the key pad design puts the "cook time" button in an illogical location. I still have to look for it after several months of use. It those two items were changed back to the old design, I would rate this machine four stars.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Goofy Heat Sensing Feature
on October 19, 2015

Our old GE Space Saver microwave had a feature where you hit "Beverage" and it would hear your cup of water for a minute and a half - just the right amount of time. On this microwave, when you hit "Beverage" it begins a two minute fifteen second cycle to sense what it is cooking followed by a cook-sense-cook-sense cycle that takes eight minutes and fifteen seconds to heat a cup of water. We were so sure that the microwave must be malfunctioning that we had the repair person come out. The repair person assured us that the microwave was functioning as it was designed. How crazy is that?
