A good model, but not as nice as my earlier one

We chose this model b/c the dimensions are similar to my old model, fitting our space; it is a little longer, but not too deep, but I still like my old one better. This is labout the 4th or 5th generation of our old GE model, but the old one had nicer features. It had a full length glass tray in the bottom, making it easy to clean. It included a removable shelf that I could put in when needed. It did not have a turntable, but I had a wind-up turntable that I put in when needed. This new one has a turntable that I can turn off; it can be removed for cleaning, but you are not supposed to operate the microwave without it in, acc. to the manual, which I had to download online (no longer included in the box). The old one was solid (this one is kind of tinny, makes more noise when you close it) and had a door handle (which I prefer) instead of the push button to open. The buttons are a bit hard to push and I can’t see them at night unless I turn the kitchen light on. The three things I like better about the new one are that it is a bit quieter, it has 800 watts vs. 600, and it has an Express Cook that lets you push one button to get anywhere from 1 to 6 minutes automatically on high. I am keeping the old glass tray - I may be able to place it over the turntable when it is turned off, in order to place 2 items side by side. It would be nice if the turntable was "sunk in" so that it was flush (level) with the bottom of the oven (as in some over-the-range models). That way one could put 2 items side by side when the turntable was turned off. The over-the-range models are all too long for my space (around 29 inches vs. 24). All in all, I think I am happier with this model (for my space) than any other models available now. It is a bit pricey compared to other models, so I hope it will function for a long time (I had my previous GE for 30 years!).

Perfect size microwave as an island insert

I have had this microwave 5 months and love it except for the fact that it should have a safety lock childproof feature

Not a Profile replacement

Thought we were getting the replacement for our 24" under cabinet GE Profile microwave. This one as fewer features on screen and looks "cheaper". Works OK for a low powered unit.

This is our third GE microwave and I am please with this one. The control buttons are less complicated than the previous ones. Though the interior is slightly smaller, I am happy.

We haven't used it a ton yet, mostly to melt butter and reheat foot, but we like how easy it is to use. The preset popcorn setting works great, but when we use the reheat single plate setting our food gets way too hot.
I would recommend this to a friend!
