When we built our house 15 years ago we installed a GE SpaceMaker and it served us well until a few weeks ago. I knew it would not be easy to find a built-in replacement that would fit into such a small space (27" W x 15" H x 16 1/2" D) and I was right. After looking at every possible make & model on line and in retail the only one that I found that was design for a space this small was the GE Profile series. Thank goodness they still make this small and attractive unit. It was very affordable, looks great, its quiet and was easy to install. The only drawback is that it is slightly under powered at 900 watts. But, even that is not a big inconvenience. It means it takes a little longer to heat up or cook your food. I would recommend this to anyone.

Good microwave, except that the stainless steel shows fingerprints so badly. Much worse than my last GE microwave.

Control panel not backlit - very hard to read.
Weakest on the market at 800 watts.

Replacement for a GE Spacemaker JEM25WY

I found this GE Profile Series by accident. I needed a small microwave which would fit into my existing cabinets.Somewhere I found a reference to the GE Profile PEM31DFWW, which would be a good replacement for my existing microwave. It fit perfectly and was easily installed. GE should make this easier to find. Much quieter than my old unit and has a turntable. Would have liked a slightly larger unit, as I did have more space.

We're happy this small microwave is still made. Sadly, it replaces one that only lasted eleven years with moderate daily use. You need to order the mounting kit if you're hanging it under a cabinet. The previous one didn't align with this model. Surprised it has a smaller interior even though it's slightly bigger than the old one. The screen is not as sensitive to the touch - have to push harder to set.

Better than the previous models

I have had a GE built in for 13 years same model. The door button barely function on the previous models. The newest model button to open works way better. Only down side is the ugh ya for the clock are now white instead of the green so it doesn’t match the other GE products in the kitchen.
