Functional but not as solid prior Spacemaker model

We needed to replace a ~2005 GE Spacemaker unit which we liked and was solidly built. This unit was the only unit that fit on our 12 inch deep shelf and it was not an inexpensive model. After one month of use, it gets the job done just fine. My hesitations are the quality of design and construction compared to our earlier model. The labels on the buttons are tinted against a black background making them difficult to read. The door sounds tinny when closing compared to the solid sound of the prior unit's door. There's only a single interior light which provided dim illumination. The prior unit had full interior illumination. This unit has a shrill and piercing chime when the heating is finished. The exterior appearance is attractive. In summary, I think GE went cheap on this unit but kept a higher price since it's the only shallow unit available.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Looks and fits great

Just got it today only used it once, but I’m sure it will run just fine. It has a lot of the same features as my last GE and I had that microwave wave for about 11 years that’s why I went with another GE.

Upgrade and replacement of Existng SpaceSaver II

I bought this as a replacement for an existing GE Spacesaver microwave, so on the positive side it fit the existing space (slightly larger) but I had to purchase a new installation trim kit. It works OK but nothing special and in fact it's a step in the wrong direction. Here are some suggestions for design improvements. The touch screen doesn't light up, so it's difficult to see the controls in subdued light (no this is not an old person/poor eye sight problem, it's poor design/UI- this wasn't an issue on the previous model). The latch and door mechanism is reminiscent of the kind of design you'd find on a World War II battleship. GE engineers should be able to do a lot better, if not send them to the Apple school of design for a refresher course.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sized to fit

We bought this microwave to replace an existing GE Profile 700W model. This model fit perfectly with the optional trim package, although the cabinet opening did have to be expanded slightly. The touch pad for some of the buttons needs to be pressed quite hard, but all of the features and functions perform as expected. Would love for it to be more powerful than 800W.

Only microwave that was white and fits under cabinet. Works great. Love the extra options. Wish it had more power (800 watts) but it heats everything we need it for.

Disappointed (1) I thought it would be more powerful and cook food faster and (2) have to push on off button hard to get it to go on/off.
