GE Spacemaker Built-in Microwave Oven

The install to replace the older similar model was easy and we were able to use the old microwave’s hanging kit by drilling new holes into the top of our cabinet. No need to buy a new hanging kit.
This will be our 3rd GE Spacemaker replacement microwave. The inside paint coating has delaminates and peeled off on all three after only about two years’ use. This microwave is double the price of most other similar brands but unfortunately we’re stuck buying it because it’s the only model that’ll fit the built in cabinet opening we have.
All GE would have to do to make this customer happy isn’t to offer it with a stainless steel interior option, once and for all. It’s ashamed to throw away expensive microwaves just because the paint inside peels off.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Had to replace our 10yo unit due to the clock/timer display becoming too dim to read and peeling of the inside coating. So far the new unit seems to work well and we are happy with the unit.

New GE microwave

This is a replacement for the same model I purchased 17 years ago I liked a lot so decided to buy the latest model. The older model was a great machine and Im sure this one will be too.

Very small and weak

Surprisingly small microwave. Makes a funny noise every time we use it. I have a service call into GE to see if they can fix it but who knows. Doesn’t have a lot of power. Will not cook a bag of popcorn in 2:30 minutes. Only redeeming quality is that it is smudge proof. Purchased a trim kit that does not stay flush with our cabinets.

This model does have 800 watts of cooking power.
