I am struggling to like this microwave. From our perspective, it is not powerful enough and seems to take longer to heat left overs than even our old Kenmore microwave from 1991! Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy job made way too difficult

So, we purchased our first version of these 13 years ago, and until the display went kaput, it worked great! We thought... lets just get another! We can just screw it right into the custom under cabinet area we built for the original one. Then we got it and GE decided to change where the drill holes are and where the power comes out the back. Easy job made so much more difficult. GE, why would you do this? Why would you make installation more difficult? Why would you think I would ever want to buy another GE appliance if you don't keep the longevity of customer satisfaction at the forefront of every design decision you make?

Fits the former space perfectly!

Finally found a replacement for our 30 year old Spacemaker, which still works, but is feeling its age. We're hoping it is as faithful. So far quiet and efficient.

Downgrade from previous model -preheat button

I'm just disappointed in this microwave. It is the 3rd GE 'spacemaker' microwave we have purchased since 1992. It replaced one that was 15 y ears old. My biggest disappointment was that the reheat button, which we referred to as the magic button in the previous model, no longer is a push once and forget about it button. Just push and it magically reheated out leftovers without any further input. The new model makes us hit at least 3 buttons to try to do the same thing. It also seems to me to be noisier than the previous model.
Normal functions seem fine and as expected (time cook, power level, etc)....just miss that 'magic' reheat button we had on the previous model

Not so great microwave

GE Microwave is poorly made. Door latch is cheap and doesn't work great. Also there is only one lightbulb and that is insufficient to see what is inside. Wattage also seems low.
