other than the machine leaving an inch of bag past the seal, and lack of really complete instructions when it came to things like meat that can trap air pockets at the bottom of the bag if packed too tightly, this machine is a ton better than my other ones have been, automatic operation is a breeze, the accessory setting for mason jars works so much better than the old machine - even with the old jar sealing accessory on the new machine.
I am looking forward to using this to save me a lot of money buying meats and cheeses wholesale.
Can't wait to try the marinate cycle too.

We've used a food saver for many years. We just purchased a new model and were excited about how it looks on our counter as it matches the rest of our kitchen appliances. It functions perfectly however, the new model requires approviamtely 1" of bag every time you seal it. We use the bags to freeze as well as keeping products fresh in referigerator. We constantly open and reseal bags as needed (much better than zip lock bags). Unfortunately, the new model precludes the reuse of bags as you lose too much of the bag when resealing. Sorry to say, we are returning the unit we just purchased.

Product is hard to use and performs poorly

I have owned the Food Saver V3835 for 1 year now. I bought the vacuum sealer on a friends recommendation, since I only need a vacuum sealer to perform minor tasks every so often. I have used the vacuum sealer approximately 8 times. Form day one the product has performed poorly and was very had to get the bags to vacuum seal (I only used Food Saver bags). Of recent the product stopped vacuuming all the air out and then ceased to seal the bags at the end of the vacuuming process. I would not recommend this product due to its poor performance overall.

Worst foodsaver ever

I have been buying Foodsaver products since they first came out. I have always had good luck, until now. The last one I purchased was a V3825 at Costco. This will be my last one. It is difficult to use, does not completly remove all of the air, and has no vaccum over ride to finish removing all of the air remaining. Hard to get the bag sensor to sense. Will not purchase another. Will definetly go with another brand.

Wastes 3/4" bag, every single use. Adds up cost!

Too bad! Don't waste your money on a "kitchen model" as "Foodsaver Support" calls them. This series will cost you lots more in bags, than its cool look is worth. It will also cost you lots in waiting time. They tell me mine is designed this way.
Instead, spend $20.00 or so more, for one of the "Professional Series" models. The "kitchen series" burns up the bag sealing surface, after two or three consecutive bag seals. Note the number of "consecutive seals" that the model you purchase is rated for. 25 is minimal!

Product has great features

This is a great product. I did not give it an excellent rating because I also seal my open potato chip bags and other such bags and they are very hard to get in the sealer. This unit is very sleek and pretty as well as very efficient. The unit is quiet and takes a minimal time to seal. It is great for sealing vegetables and meats that have fluids in them. It is also very easy to clean the unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is the worst food saver I have bought will not seal the bag says the tray is full when it is empty. you have to wait for the unit to cool down before it will seal the bag. you cannot seal more than 3 bags before it has to cool down. if you have a lot of product to seal buy something else.

That does sound ridiculous! That’s a lot of extra work just to seal a couple of bags. Usually, our V3835 FoodSaver seals 6-8 bags in a row with out requiring a cool down period.
