Great start

This is a great start to this format - Mirrorless FF. However, the AF speed must be improved for moving objects. For static objects, the Zeiss 55mm is a must.

Great product and I would definitly recommend! Very high quality and good for using as a webcam when recording games or streaming (with the elgato camlink). Very portable and I have never had a problem with it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

EXCELLENT CAMERA

Absolutely Love this camera!!! It takes amazing photos. I have the Battery Pack and The 2 Zeiss lenses and kit lenses. Also have some other film lenses and some a mount lenses. the performance is spectacular. The Images are amazing. I really like the Play Memories. The only thing id like to see is a firmware update to give it the autofocus of the a6000.

Outstanding Camera
on December 6, 2013

I’m a former film photographer who has been patiently watching the evolution of digital cameras, waiting for the right moment to jump back in. I purchased the ILCE-7K/B (Alpha 7) after spending a little time with it at my local photographic supply store. Normally, I research everything extensively. At the time of my purchase, there wasn’t a single review out yet that validated my impression that this was an exceptional camera. But looking at the solid build, the retro-chic aesthetics, the extensive feature set, the outstanding image quality, and after comparing the light weight and comfortable feel of the Alpha 7 to bulkier SLRs, there was simply no doubt. I plunked down my money and went home with baby.
This is a very exciting product that points the way towards the future of digital photography. It’s also nice to see my humble opinion supported by the many 5-Star expert reviews, Editor’s Choice Recommendations, and Camera of the Year awards that the 7 / 7R have so far received.
So, there you have it. Consider putting it on your short list - and have a warm and happy holiday season!

what do I have bad to say about this camera, hmmm? Nothing it's one of the best investments I've made for my business, I am a videographer/ photographer in Indianapolis IN, I love this camera! If you're looking for a small light weight professional camera and can afford the price tag well then this is it! look no further. I use to be a Canon guy but am no longer!

Back as a Sony fan...

I was a hardcore fan of Sony since my purchase of Sony Walkman and I had several Sony cordless phones and other Sony devices. But then Sony somehow disappeared from my home with not many market leading products that I was aware of. I bought a Nikon D5500 on the lookout for a smaller DSLR and while reading up on it, I heard many photography professionals praising mirror less cameras. It was a pleasant surprise to find Sony, the market leader for mirror less cameras. I took home an a7 with kit lens and the pictures from this full frame sensor was very impressive. I hate carrying big cameras and most times ditch my DSLRs to carry another little wonder, the not so known GE X5. I am sorry X5, now you have to stay home too! My only suggestion is while it is good to provide a zoom lens as the kit lens for smaller sensor cameras, it would give an edge for Sony to give out a small prime lens as a kit lens for the full frame cameras. That will really show how small a full frame can be and how easy it is to take anywhere you go. You may probably make DSLRs extinct too, if not in the near future. Hi Bato,

We suggest updating on the firmware version of your a7 camera. Also, try to initialize or reset the camera to resolve the issue.

Way Ahead
on September 26, 2014

The Sony A7R camera is way ahead of the once competitor N's & C's in size, weight, quality of constructions, capability, potential quality of images and cost. I have used the body with Sony e-mount lenses (wish there are more), Sony Alpha lenses with their adapter and many different manual, high quality Zeiss and Leitz lenses. Of course it is the combination that really counts. Having used Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad, Leica, Rollieflex, and other mdium and large frame film cameras in the past, there has been a longing for an affordable digital camera that can match the old film days. With the right lens, the time is here, thanks to the innovations of Sony and their new A7R camera. Now, I long for Sony automatic E-mount lenses that can match those great lenses of the past.
I would recommend this to a friend!
