Hi Phil28,
We're saddened to hear about your disappointment with the manuals. We do recommend visiting our Youtube channel SonyListens and http://www.sonydigitalimaging.com/ to learn more about tips and tricks about the camera.
Glad I made this purchase. In conjunction with my Leica lenses this camera makes great images!

I have had an A7R for about 6 months. Its a fantastic camera, photos are awesome. The size and weight are perfect for traveling. The lens selection is getting better, but ridiculously expensive. I have been a Canon user and will not duplicate some of the lenses as it is too cost prohibitive. If they got the quality and price of the lenses in line. This camera is unbeatable.

I am extremely pleased with what this camera can do, the light weight and resolution; but like many others, I am very disappointed at the slow pace Sony / Zeiss are bringing out high quality prime lenses to match it. At this rate, by the time they actually do, the mainstream competition will have caught up and be releasing their own light weight 36 Mpixel versions, with a full spectrum of their own lenses. It is cumbersome always using an adaptor.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing landscape camera, high resolution and DR in a small package. Great FE 35 and FE 55 and can use adapted SLR lenses from just about any mount.
