Extremely Disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had a Bosch dishwasher purchased on 11/18/13.
Upon a high recommendation of the employee, we decided to purchase this dishwasher. Highlights for purchase were "never have to rinse dishes", "it's very quiet", "food gets ground up and washed away".
For the first 1-1 1/2 years, this dishwasher worked fine. I wouldn't say it was outstanding, but it worked.
Then we had some problems with it not getting dishes clean. I was told I NEVER needed to rinse dishes before putting them in. But, I am a creature of habit, and most of the time, I did rinse them. From the pictures attached, the dishwasher did not do its job. It wasn't consistent with getting dishes clean.
Now we are having problems with the little container that holds the dishwasher detergent. It takes about 3 cycles to even open. First cycle turns on, but within a couple minutes, it shows up with all the red lights saying cycle done and clean button lights up. Second cycle sometimes runs complete cycle, but little container doesn't always open up. If lucky, on the 3rd try, it opens and runs full cycle. I have even taken a wet dishcloth and wiped around it so any stickiness was wiped off, hoping this would help it open.
I honestly do not trust that it is getting my dishes clean anymore.
This Bosch product was a waste of money and I will NEVER WILL I BUY A BOSCH PRODUCT AGAIN!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

"QUIET" !!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first BOSCH dishwasher and it won't be the last. I have had it for several years and have NEVER had a moments trouble. When I first got it I had to go in the kitchen just to see if it was really running because it was so quiet. I can't tell you how many times I have done that. Many times when I have had people over to our house and the dishwasher was running, I would say, "Can you hear that? They would say what? I would say our dishwasher". They would actually walk up to it to see if they could hear it running. Some have even put their hand on it to see if they could feel it running. Simply amazing and it does a fantastic job. Thank you BOSCH !!!

Cleans great but would some of the old features ba

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] BOSCH DISHWASHER SHX3AR72UC
PROS
1. Great Price
2. Energy Efficient
3. Needs little detergent
4. Cleans great
5. Dishes dry well
6. Adjustable racks & tines.
CONS
D/w Engineers should follow the motto: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
The older, cheaper d/w’s (no matter what the brand) R far more intuitive than today’s newfangled models.
The older models do not require:
* Studying a manual
* Handling redundant, confusing features
My 92-yr old mom & her aides had NO probs operating her previous d/w.
But after my brother bought her a new d/w last year, my mom & her aides still have yet to get the hang of it.
Ditto for my 30-yr old neighbor and my 55-yr old friend who r exasperated with their new dish washers as well.
BENEFITS OF THE OLD MODELS
Control Panels were External.
U could see the status clear across the room such as:
1. Minutes remaining. (If it uses a control knob, it would point to the cycle it was in at the moment.)
2. Wash done (No need for chimes that u could miss, if u R not in the kitchen).
3. Cycle: (rinse, wash, dry, etc.)
B. RESTART: If u opened the door before its done, u just close the door to restart. End of story.
C: RESET: U just hit the ON button (or turn the knob to ON position).
D. RINSE ONLY: Instead of leaving smelly dishes & utensils with dried scraps of food all day, u simply hit the rinse setting.
E. DRY OPTION: many older models offer the option to turn off the dry cycle so u can open the door, & let the dishes air dry. Great if u care about saving electricity over water spots.
F. Silverware basket covers. In a word: impractical. Limits the amt & type of silverware. Not to mention time consuming.
Silverware basket is short. I ended up using my old d/w’s basket which fit the entire length of the new d/w.
G. Tilted TINES. My old d/w’s tines pointed straight up which allowed me to load unlimited shapes & sizes.
The tilted tines restrict what I can place thus limiting what I can put in. Frustrating!!
The New Models
A. The combination of a hidden control panel w/ a super low noise level, means I don’t know if the d/w is running or done - especially if I missed the chime when I’m not in my kitchen.
B. RINSE AID: with more & more people concerned about polluting our water, u should promote a natural rinse agent. 7th generation rinse aide works fine.
C. DELAY FEATURE: I don’t know anyone who uses it. Who wants smelly, dirty dishes sitting for hrs in a dark, closed environment? That’s a recipe for mildewy machines.
BOTTOM LINE: New is not necessarily better!

TROUBLE!
on January 31, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The lower rack will not stay on the tracks when you pull it forward. We have REPEATEDLY had to make adjustments and always pull it forward to load it VERY GINGERLY. Today I couldn't get the machine to start running. The lights came on at the front panel when I pressed 'ON', but pressing 'Start' did nothing. Can't change the type of wash, either to half-load, etc.; pressing the arrow to the side did nothing. Turned it off and on repeatedly. Nothing. Checked that the racks were positioned correctly (repeatedly), opened and closed the door, repeatedly. Finally SLAMMED the door shut, and it came on! WHAT RUBBISH this thing is!!!!! Also have the devil's own time trying to close the soap receptacle after filling it. Practically need a hammer. With the door open, I have to hold under the door with my left hand to support it as I press down with GREAT FORCE on the section indicated on the soap container lid to get it to snap shut using my right thumb. It causes me PAIN to do this. Our previous dishwasher was old when we moved into our house in 1988, and we only had to replace it when the rack rusted inside and started to fall to bits in the summer of 2014. Then we bought THIS machine. MISTAKE!!! Very poorly constructed. Cheap and flimsy and hard to use. I thought Bosch was a good make. Evidently I was WRONG.

The good is good but the bad is bad.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about a month ago. Basically I am pleased with it overall but the instructions for programing the cycles and adjusting the amount of rinse aid you want to use and whether or not to turn on the heater for faster drying of the load are ambiguous to say the least. I would recommend this product with reservations and a caution to carefully check the manual first. Additionally loading is an experience. Using dishware from a craft potter means having to decrease the load.

Very quiet, lots of room

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this dishwasher at the end of January as we had already replaced the motor once on our existing dishwasher and the dishes were starting to not look clean again. Checked out models at various sites and decided on this model. It did not disappoint. One of our biggest criteria was that it needed to be quiet. It was an added bonus that the racks are so well designed we wash dishes less often. My husband did not want to pay for the installation and found it fairly easy to set up. Would highly recommend (and actually have to a coworker who has purchased one as well now.)

Washes Great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this dishwasher for a few weeks and I am very pleased with it. A popular review site gave it high marks, but there seemed to be some negative reviews on other websites concerning top rack loading being difficult and it not drying well. Cleanliness is my biggest issue along with durability. I have a family of 10, so we run the dishwasher twice daily on average.
Results Speak For Themselves:
1. Cooked a crock pot roast with potatoes, onions, carrots, etc. There was that top ring of food cooked on the inside rim of the crock pot and glass lid. Set the washer on heavy load and the dishes came out looking new.
2. They have apparently made one of the top rack row of tines collapsible. I have 5 different sizes of bowls and umpteen sizes of glasses and have no problem filling the top rack.
3. If you run the dishwasher on Auto Wash Cycle and Sanitize option, your top rack glasses will be dry, unless they have a bevel that holds water on the bottom. On any setting the plates and bowls are dry, but I always use Sanitize.
Kudos to Bosch for making an affordable high quality dishwasher!

DISAPPOINTED
on April 4, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] JUST INSTALLED THE DISHWASHER 04/01/2015. EXPECTED QUIETER OPERATION FROM A 50db UNIT. MUCH NOISIER THAN OUR OLD 2004 MAYTAG UNIT THAT THE BOSCH REPLACED! SILVERWARE RACK EASILY FALLS OVER. WHEN BOTTOM RACK IS PULLED OUT, BOTTOM RACK EASILY COMES OFF TRACK AND IS HARD TO REPLACE. WIFE DISLIKES THE FACT DOOR IS SO HARD TO OPEN!
SO FAR VERY DISAPPOINTED, AND HAVE ONLY USED TWICE. HAD ORIGINALLY ORDERED A 46db BOSCH UNIT, BUT WAS TOO TALL TO FIT UNDER OUR COUNTER TOP AND WAS FORCED TO GO WITH THE 50db UNIT WHICH IS A TAD SHORTER IN HEIGHT!
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN BOSCH, HAD EXPECTED BETTER!
