i generally don't buy v1 products, i prefer to wait for v2 or v3, after the bugs have been worked out. i made an exception here and got what i expected, an ok, but buggy, product. sometimes it works great, sometimes it's very slow, sometimes it just doesn't work, sometimes it needs to be re calibrated and sometimes that process is frustrating ... it's gotten better as the software has been updated, and it's great when it works

We have had this lock for a couple years. My husband and I are not very handy so thought it prudent to hire a locksmith and save the marriage. I have the program on my iPhone and he uses the fob. Since both of our cars turn on with the push of a button, we have no need to have our keys in our hand when entering the house from the garage. The Kevo lock is perfect for us. We have set up the kids with access on their iPhones and I rave about the convenience all the time. Get one, you'll love it!

Poor Exectuion Kwikset

This is a great product in concept, but execution is extremely poor. I've had mine well over a year and am beyond the point of trying to get the bluetooth to function properly. I use it as any other lock. Except on the occasions when i walk out of the house when my phone is still inside and the door locks behind me. Of course when I'm outside touching the lock, it doesn't work or sometimes it does - you just never know. I'm normally pretty presistent, but after numerous attempts, just gave up - poor working technology wins. Been through the software upgrades and they didn't improve performance.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have had this lock for over a year and use an Iphone with it. I find that it can be very slow to respond, the good old key would be faster. It is great when your hands are full and plan old cool factor.

Worked well when I first installed it, But then...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After a few days of positive use, I felt comfortable leaving my keys at home when I went on my walk. The lock worked well for the first few weeks. Unfortunately, that's as long as it lasted. Now I consider myself LUCKY when the lock actually opens. More times than not, I'm left crawling through the bedroom window on the side of my house (after climbing my gate) to get inside my house! The lock has been getting stuck in the lock position and will not open until I manually turn the lock! This is absolutely not what I expected and now I have to leave the front door unlocked when I leave the house! I should have never bought this lock! Be warned!

The best keyless lock I ever use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using it for over 1yr+. Prior to purchase Kevo, I did a lot of research how other keyless works. Many others were inconsistent, some uses GPS where touch isn't required at all, the problem I found others was I am living in an apartment building where GPS could be showing me I am at another building or worst another location.
The other reason I choose Kevo was externally it looks like a normal key lock but can open by touch sensor. In year 2014 when I first got it, only my Samsung Note 4 were able to open the door, now I can use my Huawei Watch (Android Wear) to open it too. Thanks to Kwikset Kevo and thanks to David Krauser for actively improving.

I really liked the concept. I travel a lot and liked the idea of being able to use smart keys if I needed a friend to check on my place... unfortunately too many problems. The lock worked fine at first and then it started to lock on its own whenever the door would close... almost locked myself out when I stepped outside a few times. I contacted customer service to disable to "auto lock" feature. Puzzled they told me there wasn't an auto lock feature. They suggested I put tape on some wires inside. The problem persisted, so I eventually took the lock back and exchanged it for a new one. About a month later the new one starts doing the same thing all the time. I eventually had enough and retired the lock. This was in 2015, so maybe they have it working better now, but I'm not ready to try it again.

Kevo Lock

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this lock everyday for the past 10 months. I have had only two issues with the lock since I have owned it. #1 was trying to tie in the kevo hub so I could use my cell phone from anywhere to unlock the door. Turned out I needed to do a software update on my Kevo to get it to work. #2 lock has stopped working twice, I figured out the battery pack wasn't making contact so I bent up the contacts and issue was fixed. Other than those two issues the lock works great. I have mine setup so I can tap it and walk away and it locks. I think if I get smart things I can set it up so if the door is unlocked for 45 minutes it auto locks. That would be great.
