I bought this when it first hit the market. There was an issue with the first antenna. KwikSet replaced it and ever since I have had no issues.
It is best way to eliminate the need for a key an just use your smartphone.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to install and easy to use; when it wants to work. It works nearly every time for me but for my wife is a different story. She has to make sure that the kevo app is up on her phone; not just running in the background. It would be nice to have a wireless unlock option or an alarm disarm option.

I bought it when it came out almost 2 years ago. Love it just wish I could use my phone instead of the key fob

Good first generation

I bought this about a year ago and am generally happy with the product. The firmware update that eliminated the need to calibrate was a good improvement from the original finicky firmware. Due to a failure, I had to return my original lock a few months ago and was given a replacement under warranty. In the time that my lock was out of commission I came to realize just how much I came to rely on the convenience factor.
This first generation product isn't without its quirks. When I go to unlock the door, it doesn't consistently open on the first attempt. Sometimes it would have been quicker to unlock with the key. However, if your hands are full it's nice to be able to unlock with just a touch, even if it takes more than one try. I seem to have better luck when leaving the house. There seems to be more consistent operation since the need for a second tap is rare when locking.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the lock. I'm hoping that a firmware revision or a second generation device provides added consistency for unlocking.

Good but inconsistent

Installed this lock about 7 months ago and have been generally happy with it and has been more reliable since last firmware update.
However it's still often very inconsistent and won't unlock easily with iPhone close by, sometimes taking up to three attempts and occasionally locks itself when the door is open. My wife regularly reminds me that it would be faster to use a key rather than have to remove her iPhone from bag first.
Would purchase another one (maybe a new generation unit?) but only if consistency can be guaranteed.

A Struggle

We have had this lock for almost a year. My partner wants it gone-I struggle with it (I so want it to work.)
Installation was not as easy as stated, routing the cables to plug in was a farce that took many tries to get just right (trying not to pinch anything.)
Then started the fun...
We had two different model phones; iPhone 4s and 5 when we started. I had the 5. The lock mostly worked for me after a few calibration successes and failures, his was a disaster-taking three or four tries (after calibration) to unlock.
Then came new firmware, that helped some-especially with the iPhone 5. The 4s was not better.
So now we have iPhone 6's, both a 6 and a 6+. The lock is on the latest firmware v1.2.3.
The lock mostly works-not from your pocket or bag, but if you hold the phone out - within a foot or so it works (80% first try.)
I get the "random" lock when closing, sometimes before the door is closed (the doorjamb has suffered.) I also had an issue a couple of weeks back that would not allow me to use the lever on the back of the lock to close the bolt--it would not move. I had to use the app to open and then close the lock.
I so want this to be rad and work--I have tried, but if it gets worse, my patient partner will have me remove it!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I installed this over a year ago. It works! I even received email the other day that the batteries were low. That is amazing.
What I would like to see is the ability to open or lock from my iPhone without having to touch the lock.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hi JohnK,
Thank you so much for coming back to write a review for us, and thank you for the product suggestion. Remote unlocking is something we are working on, and we hope it will be available soon!
Thank you,
